922 OTA problem

I thought that I had all the bugs worked out of my new 922(2 weeks old) until this past weekend. Two recordings that were made had problems at the beginning of each. On the first recording the opening 3-4 minutes were missing, the rest was fine. The second recording had severe pixelation and freeze ups at the beginning then seemed fine. Now when I first turn on the receiver OTA channels either won't come in at all or are severely pixelated and freeze up. Again after 30 seconds or so everything seems fine but there is some occasional minor pixelation. The problem only seems to be occuring on OTA channels and not satellite. All of my local channels show 100% signal and I did not have any signal problems with the 622 that this unit replaced or the 211 that I also use.

After the initial 48hr bugs everything was fine until this started. Anyone have any ideas? I know that I can have a replacement receiver sent out but hate to trade a brand new unit in for a re-furb if there are other things I could try first.

That is the first thing I thought of. I talked with the folks I got the receiver from and they are giving me another one to try this weekend. I'm crossing my fingers that it is only the module and not something else. I had a similar pixelation problem with the 622 a few years ago and that turned out to be a software issue. I did quite a bit of thread searching though and couldn't find anything like what I'm experiencing.

UPDATE

Installing a new OTA module seems to have done the trick. I installed it last Sun. and so far no problems.

I'll keep you posted if anything changes. Hope this helps anyone that is experiencing the same issues.

i have a question or two? i have a 922 in the living room and would like to add a tv in another room,do i need another hd box or can the 922 do both? and is it possible to whtch oth there to?

It can do both, but the second TV will be in SD not HD unless you are get an HDMI splitter and run an HDMI cord to the second location.

Yes, an HDMI switch will work. However you will have to select which output you want to view on the switch - many have remotees). There are also splitters that allow viewing (of the same program) on multiple TVs. I have not personally used the splitter, but there are several reports that online that they work.

I have a splitter and they work perfect. Just make sure you get a powered one.
