Can my Dish 921 record two HD programs at once off the satellite? (such as HBOHD and TNTHD) or one off the satellite and one OTA? Seems like every time I try this, only one records.

Yes. And you can view one previously recorded program. Hd or sd.

When in doubt, give it a try. You can always delete your test programs once you've proven it to yourself.

But to repeat tnsprin, yes, it will work. Any of two of your three HD tuners can be recording at the same time.

Thanks for the response. I thought that should work. I must have had an overlap from an adjacent program I was recording.

You must not schedule them for the same start time. Stagger the starts by a minute. If they start together especially following other recordings you will likely get a zero-second recording (ZSR) on the 921.

If there is an 3-way (or 2 OTAs) overlap with an adjacent program you should get the conflict screen. Timer extensions will be truncated without warning nor retention.

(Until last night I used it to skip the next showing of a program for a week or a day by deleting the fake recordings and checking skip once on the one not shown this week. On daily is easier for Jon Stewart than setting up 4 weeklies.)
