If you look around your area, and if you advertise for anyone wanting to get rid of old Primestar and Channel Master dishes you WILL come across some great find-----some FREE: "Just get it out of my yard!"
I have come across several dishes (plus C Band too!) and still looking.
got a couple P* dishes that way....free just take it :)

Mjac, why not build you a mount? Consider getting a HH motor drive like the SG2100. If you want to get into FTA, go all the way.
I have seen mounts made of plywood, scraps of metal and metal clamps, etc. If you go to SEARCH of this forum, and type in "Primestar dish / SG2100", you will come into many ideas of mounts for dish like you got.

Now if you are just having a fixed dish on certain satellites, then you must have the mount of that particular dish to be able to mount on the pole.
Take a look at these pictures.
The SG2100 HH motor and STAB motors are not that expensive.
You may wonder by looking at the pictures of the dish, "How am I gonna make a mount plate without the mount itself?" Well, put something on the four bolt holes under the dish (wet ink, chalk), then flip it over and set it on a white poster card board to make the holes imprint and draw a rectangle box around them. See the picture of the square mount on the CM dish. (first picture).
I am using a plate made of metal 11" x 10". Metal plate must be sturdy to support the dish. 1/2 plywood can be used.
Also you would need the footing of a Directv dish. I know you can come across one very easy.
I can go on and on. The bottom line is BE CREATIVE!
Hope this can help you decide which way to go.
Satelliteguys forum is full of guys waiting to share ideas and wanting to help! :eureka
If you do get into FTA, HAVE FUN!!!

MrFTAMan,
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and thought provoking replies. I would like very much to go with a motor and have searched till my eyes bleed, however I have a very limited LOS. I would get something like 123.0w thru maybe 85.0w. Unless I am missing something, there doesn't seem enough to warrant a motor at this time.
Now IF I can get SWMBO to give up the grape arbor on the OTHER side of the house, my LOS would great. The damn thing only gives up a few grapes once a year anyway, I don't see what the big deal is but I digress.
A move to TN where LOS wont be a problem is in the future and a motor will definately be in the system. The apple orchard will be on the north side *grin*
I am still working on getting up and running. A Traxis 3500 is ready and waiting. Today I scored a CM LNBF and an extra D* mount from a guy who answered my Craigs list ad. He had piles of pirate stuff. I must have moved 40 D* dishes to get at the DirectPC dish that was on the bottom with the CM LNBF on it. Free too!
Again thanks, for the pics also.

Mike
