Because usually a Hopper 3 upgrade requires an upfront cost of anywhere from $50 to $150 depending on the account. A Hopper 2 upgrade is usually free.

And if you do upgrade, don’t bother with the Hopper Duo or HWS nonsense. Go with the Hopper 3.

I've been getting a two dollar discount for having the Hopper/sling.

Is that commonly offered? When I looked into it last, my HWS and H3 rates were the same, except I’d lose a DVR discount.

The normal regular price for a Hopper 1, 2 or 3 is $15 a month or $10 a month for new customers (or those that get a deal).
