722 power & broadband problems

Last few days, when I go to fire up the 722 the first time for the day, it will not turn on via the remote, using either the power button or the "select" button. Only way to get it to turn on is to depress and hold the power button on the box, resulting in a 5 minute reboot cycle.

Anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?

Another weird symptom is that I keep getting messages that the Dish usb broadband antenna is either "just connected" or alternatively a message that it has "disconnected". There is no physical reason for either message; the antenna hasn't been touched.

Again, any idea of what is going on here?

Thanks

Sorry for being unclear. Yes, this is the usb wireless dongle. BTW, plugging and unplugging the dongle in the front usb port does not always fix things. Right now the broadband connection is working, but the disconnected message can pop up at any time. Yesterday I had to do the broadband setup 5 times in a row before it "stuck". And I am getting a signal strength of 80 when it is working.

I suspect your 722 is dying. Just to eliminate the wireless connection part of the problem, can you directly plug in a cat5 cable between receiver and your router? If you have to, you could even run the cable over the floor for a day or two, as a test. If the problem goes away with that direct connection, then you know it's the wireless dongle OR interference from somewhere. Actually, you could rule out the receiver just by unplugging the wireless dongle (no network connection at all) and see if the receiver comes up OK in the morning.

DIRT comes through again!
