625 Audio Question

I signed up for E* today and am getting the 625/322 package. I am setting up my audio cables now so it will go quicker when the install guy gets here. Can I hook up to the optical audio out and the RCA audio outs at the same time and have them both work? I am planning on running a S-Video and RCA audio direct to the TV for watching TV on an everyday basis and I was hoping I could hook the optical to my receiver and just use my receiver and surround sound when I am watching movies.

Should be able to, I dont believe that one will cancel out the other.
