622: Resuming program while recording

On my DP-510 and my old DishPlayer I could view a program that was being recorded, switch to another recorded program, then return to the program being recorded and resume where I left off. With the ViP 622 it doesn't give me the option to resume until the program has finished recording -- I can only start over or view it live. Very annoying. Does anyone know how to make this work on the ViP 622?

Thanks,

Myzur

I don't think you can go back to where you left off.

You can switch to a different program, and then click dvr, select the program you are recording, and then you can select start over or view. view will bring you live, and then you can rewind to where you were.

Its not perfect, but still pretty amazing thinking that you can record 2 sat programs, plus 1 OTA program, and watch something already recorded all at the same time.

I wish I had a better answer for you.

Yes this has bugged me too. I thought I was the only one to notice this but with a SD and HD DirecTV Tivo DVR in same room as the DISH VIP 622 DVR I just hit the Menu button on them and resume where you left off. You can use the "Stop" button to mark your place when a program has finished recording with the 622. Today on the NASCAR race I just "Paused" the playback, left the recorder on but turned off the TV. One hour later I resumed the recording still active by just turning on the TV and "Play" on remote for 622. Also I think you can use PIP and pause one show and then switch back and forth pausing each time. Have not tried this yet, however. Don't understand why this has not been discussed much, but it could be that since you can record using three turners instead of only two like with Tivo, it is not possible. Last week was told I could do this by just hitting the stop button. Does not work if recording is still live and not completed.

IF you buy your own VIP211/622 do you still pay any DVR Fees?
