They do, do this...
The Big HD is to show that the Channel Broadcasts in HD, and the description of the program tells the viewer is the program is in not.
Many folks with HD dont realize the real HD channels are in the 9400 range. I myself did not realize this (and how stupid some people can be) until I went too one of Dish Networks call centers and found this was a COMMON issue.
I'm not talking about in the description... I'm talking about an icon in the shows name in the guide... hell, they could use the same icon they plan to use for the hd channels.
But as I said, it shouldnt be a "this or that" thing, they should do both, if they wanna put a little "hd" icon for the people that dont read their 5 different opportunity channel guides (seriously, i felt bombarded when i signed up for service, and see it on the website, in the box for the 622 AND via us postal mail a week later), thats fine, just add an icon to the show if its REALLY in hd as well. The description info sometimes SUCKS in the program guide... often either cutting off info, or listing it in an inconsistant way (description, cast, year), or (cast, description year) etc...
make it consistant, and put an hd logo on the show itself if its in hd. Help us all out dish!

One problem is that the info comes from a 3rd party (Tribune)

It doesn't work for all the channels. Take Food HD for example. The programming schedule and shows is vastly different between HD and SD, so I would not want Food HD replacing Food SD.What happened to the plan or idea that they would "replace" HBO (ch 300) with HBO-HD on HD receivers ?? Same with ESPN vs ESPN-HD, TNT and TNT-HD, etc, etc ??
Will the new software include Native Passthrough?
