I remember reading some time ago that if you upgraded to the 622 + one of the HD packages, + locals the installation included an OTA antenna for free, that is if you locals are not carrried by dish yet.
Is this true? I have my installation set up for 03/02 but the csr never mentiond anything about the free OTA antenna even tough I ordered locals..

dish just informed us starting 4/1/06 we are going to install OTA. they didn't say if it free or not. but local retailers have been doing that for a while

They are saying the professional installation is free. It mentioned an additional cost for the OTA antenna. According to a PDF Scott posted:

Question:
Do I need to pay anything extra to get my local channels in HD?
Answer:
In limited markets, DISH Network will be offering HD local channels at no additional charge for customers already subscribing to their locals package. Those customers, who would like to receive their HD local channels via an HD off-air antenna and qualify under applicable business rules, may pay an upfront fee for installation and purchase of the antenna, but pay nothing to receive the channels as long as they subscribe to DishHD Programming or pay a $6 HD Enabling Fee.

Who knows what Dish is trying to say. Do they mean the upfront fee is for the install and antenna, or upfront fee is for the install and then you have to purchase an OTA antenna? I read that as upfront fee for install and additional cost for the OTA.

Do you think they go out of their way to be confusing?

Does anyone remember all of those amplified RCA rabbit ear antennas that they gave away free with DirecTV systems they sold at Best Buy and Circuit City, as well as the FREE self install kits? This was before the SHVA and local into local.

That sound like what they will be selling for $49.

Why DN don't let me upgrade for two 211 receivers ?
