60 HD Channels?

InHD 2 is being scaled back with content of 2 being added to InHD. Interesting that InHD is owned by cable companies and its coming to Dish. If they do that, Sprout (SD) would be cool for my 3 year old. Programming for her age group drops off when Noggin becomes N at 4 P.M.. I think Direct carries Sprout. Also, the national PBS HD feed would be SWEET. When I had OTA, that was pretty much the best HD in picture quality I have seen.

Well, I guess I'm up to 34 if I count the 4 watered down HD LIL we don't ever watch (get the good stuff via an OTA antenna). Let's see: INHD, CinemaxHD, WealthTV, MTVHD, 10 RSNs, and 6 more VOOM HD Originals...add them to the lineup and we're alreayd up to 54.

According to BFG's chart, 61.5/129 have 9 transponders used for national hd. Assuming, E* gets the mpeg4 issues worked out and put 4 channels on each transponder, you get 36 HD channels out of that bandwidth. 110 has another 8 or 9 channels (depending on whether HDNet gets the transponder back to itself after the NFL-HD preview ends). So, unless E* can power up some more transponders or some HD LiL markets go spot beam, it looks like 45 HD(-lite) channels is the most they can offer until their next round of major satellite launches.

and the more new HD channels they add, the more bandwitdth they take away from existing HD channels. We're already seeing this with lower resolution and lower bitrates. All of us who have watched true HD programming can see the decline in picture quality over the past year. WooHoo, more HD channels that most people don't watch. The race is on.

National PBS HD feed? I thought that was a dead issue- PBS did not want to poach from their local affiliates. Or is there more to the story?

When I was getting HD thru OTA, I got a poor signal on the PBS channel and was always bummed about it. But now that I have Dish, which includes channels such as National Geographic HD and Discovery HD, I couldn't give a rat's arse about PBS HD. PBS content is pretty lame compared to these other channels, unless you're looking for something real specific. And some of the travel shows that PBS carries are also on the others.

Can I get an HD feed on 2 TVs using a 622?

New to the board.... and I have a 622/DVR Question
