6 foot dish install

Arms are located in the second row of bolts holes from the rim . Where DougRuss has his located. I definitely used extra washers, and went out and bought a 4" 7/16th bolt for attaching the actuator to the dish. Had to get longer to get a "straight push" from the actuator. Started working with the actuator and Gbox today. Set my east-west limits. Turned my dish on the pole to the east past my LOS, and then extended to actuator to my true south bird, 87W. Trying to set my elevation and delination angles ( not easy, I'd say), to get more than 2 birds. So far I can get 87W and 91W , but haven't gotten anything else.

On the subject of the focal point...If this dish was like my Fortec Star 1.8, I found the center support a bit tricky to align perfectly. I ended up using a scrap piece of 2.5" PVC pipe and slid it down through the LNBF opening and tweaked the alignment until it was centered on the cover plate in the center of the dish. Simple but effective.

I just got mine today and about 34 of the smallest washers were missing, medium size a couple. this is no big deal cuz they run a nickle a piece at the hardware store. i am just going to take my instructions there so i dont forget anything. i have to put the pole in when i have energy (medical issues) and then fixed until i get a vbox. is anybody using a seperate ku sidecar for their install? if so how many degrees?

It seems that most people are coming short on the hardware supplied with these dishes. I know that you will have to buy a 7/16x4" long bolt to go with the actuator hookup, one of the original bolt that comes with the actuator is too short for proper dish alingment, you will also need about 8 7/16 washer to add to the bolt for proper alingment.

If possible follow dougruss instructions from the first post of this thread when it comes to shimming the 2 3/8" diameter pole/post with 2 2" PVC coupling. There is no such thing as a 2 5/8" post in either Home Depot or Lowe's.

This dish looks good, but be careful for it is very flinsy, and it bends too easy. I also found a few areas that had peeling paint, and some rust underneath. But on the overall it is still a bargain.

Take it easy and have some fun doing this project, I know that I am. So far this has been a learning experience in every way.

I noticed that on a few spots on the back of mine. I went ahead and sprayed some Primer on the areas and then shot the whole back of the Dish with Rubberized Undercoating, 2 cans did the job.

I know that you will have to buy a 7/16x4" long bolt to go with the actuator hookup, one of the original bolt that comes with the actuator is too short for proper dish alignment, you will also need about 8 7/16 washer to add to the bolt for proper alignment.

Would it be possible to take a few Pics of how you have it hooked up?

Might not be a great thing to you and many others, but for me that would be a 120 mile trip to the "local" hardware store, that would have the quantity of parts..... The "store" in "town" has a maximum of 15 - reorder 10 when they drop to 5.... That would be a major deal killer for me.

I'm not sure, but I suspect that at the half extended point, it's very desireable to have it a "straight push" . I'm going to work on it in the morning again, and maybe add more washers still.

Brother Avenger has enlisted my help as he has never messed with one of these dishes before....I am having a whale of a time getting the actuator and the dish in the same plane, so the actuator will push the dish without binding. I see some of you guys put washers in to shim it, Avenger and I discussed it this afternoon, and that seems to be the only way to do it. So tomorrow we will try it further. I took some pics while I was there today, if anyone has any more ideas feel free to pipe up.

I've got mine Bolted at the same location as your pic #4 and here is where I mounted the End piece using the 2 spacers that came with it.

I noticed that no washers were used with the end of the actuator push arm, is it straight and in line without binding.

The end of the actuator arm of my model PMA24 seems to be bigger in diameter than some of the pictures of actuators shown on other posts.

I wonder what model of actuator doughruss using, that one fits inside the the "L" bracket with no problem.

It is hard to believe that there are some many different ways in the hooking up and alingment of the actuator to this particular 6' dish. Is there a standard size of an actuator for this dish.

Well tomorrow with the help from stogie5150, we will lick this problem once and for all. Ha, Ha.
