6.4 Remote and Hopper3

The model 40.0 remote that I use with my Hopper3 has become defective and I happened to find an old remote 6.4 (from my dual DVR days) laying in a drawer.

I'm guessing that the answer is "no," but does anyone know if a 6.4 might work with a Hopper3?

Pretty sure no. You can ask Dish for a new one free otherwise try eBay.

It is not compatible. To troubleshoot the remote please send a PM with your phone number and PIN.

Contrary to all previous answers, any old dish remote will work with the hopper 3, provided that it is on IR (not UHF) address 1, and IR has been enabled in hopper settings.

even my old slingbox IR blaster will control it.

Yes... I have a Harmony IR remote as well as a 40 and 50 remotes, both UHF. They all work just fine...
