It depends on the rechargeables. Sanyo now Panasonic Eneloops are the best as they will retain 70% their charge for 10 years.Never been happy with rechargeables before. Will try again, I guess.

A big problem with rechargeable batteries is that they are only 1.2 volts. A regular battery is 1.5 volts. A lot of equipment uses 1.2 volts as the voltage when it considers the battery to be discharged, and that causes problems with rechargeables. I have found that a lot of devices do not play well with rechargeables because of the lower voltage.Never been happy with rechargeables before. Will try again, I guess.
I just bite the bullet and buy big quantity sizes of regular batteries at Sam's Club.A big problem with rechargeable batteries is that they are only 1.2 volts. A regular battery is 1.5 volts. The Harmony Hub solution pretty much eliminates the battery issue. The remote use a coin battery that has lasted for a year+ in my remotes. The heavy lifting is accomplished by the Hub which uses a wall wart. Not for everyone but worth checking out.
Yep the Elite is pricy but the Home Companion can be had for less then $90 on sale. Amazon has Logitech Harmony Smart Control for $79 with Prime shipping right now.Let me $ee. I looked into a hub, but there wa$ $ome rea$on I pa$$ed on it.
Any chance a single hub could control two HT setups, one in the LR, one in the MBR? It's been a long time since I looked at a Hub. They could well be on an advanced model by now.
1st time you press them the menu comes up for you to select an action.I have a question, what are the default actions for the two buttons?
My remotes are still out for delivery. How do you turn on the TV?Just received my 54. First impression- amazing. The backlight will definitely come in handy. The voice control is on par. The 4 buttons (and select key) surrounding the directional pad are rubbery. The directional pad feels more natural. This remote is very responsive with no delay in the button presses. I definitely think this is the best remote by dish yet.

Gee, sure glad I don't have a pet!So I just found out unintentionally that when you turn your tv off on the new remote it registers with the hopper and sets a lower standby time. I’m guessing it’s 30 or 45 minuets. I turned the tv off with the new remote and and 30-45 minutes later I came back and turned the tv on and the hopper was displaying a new screen that said it was going into standby in 45 secs. I have my hopper set to go into standby after 4 hours of inactivity and this was a different screen than that gives me when that’s about to happen. I think that’s a pretty effective way to solve the issue of not having 2 power buttons. That way if your pet accidentally steps on the power button it doesn’t shut the hopper off and make you miss part of your show.
I get my batteries at Harbor Freight Tools. They often run coupons for free (generic brand) AA or AAA batteries (your choice) with any purchase. These cheapo batteries don't seem to last as long as the better quality brands do, but hey, they're free!I just bite the bullet and buy big quantity sizes of regular batteries at Sam's Club.
UPS just delivered my remotes. Got one paired to my bedroom Joey. Will try it out when I go to bed.
