5 LNB Upgrade Questions...

I'll be scheduling my upgrade to the new 5LNB dish and new HD DVR in a couple of weeks and I had a few questions:
1. To get VOD I understand I need to have the new DVR connected to the internet. I have broadband via COX cable coming into my wireless router... can the DVR be hardwired to the router and should I expect the installer to be able to set up and configure the DVR so it can communicate with the router? Is that part of the setup?

2. I currently receive local HD via an antenna in my attic...will the installer set up the DVR to receive the locals and will they appear in my program guide?

3. Any advice as to which HD DVR I should try to get...or am I stuck with whatever the installer shows up with?

Thanks in advance for any advice that comes my way...I've learned alot from reading the posts on this board.

#1 - I haven't heard that D* installers are setting up the ethernet connections as part of the install. However really nothing to set up if you have wiring near buy, just plug it into your router in an open port.

#2 - If a coax run from your antenna is at the location of the HR20 you can try to ask him to connect it, it just screws onto a connector on the back. Setup on the HR20 is easy, just go MENU-> Help & Settings- > Setup-> Sat& Ant-> Antenna Setup-> Initial Setup the box will guide you through what to do.

#3 - They just show up with whatever they have, really no difference between the operation of the two different versions. IMHO, I prefer the HR20-700 since new software "Living on the Edge" (see that D* sub forum for more info) releases come out for the 700 then the HR20-100.

You can either wire it to the router or use a wireless gaming adapter or wireless ethernet bridge. Since Media Share is still "beta" and VOD doesn't yet exist, the installers probably have not had any training about the ethernet connection. The setup is pretty straightforward (DHCP or static IP).

Both the -100 and -700 are getting the 0x17E software version.
