If and when you get a HDR 4k BluRay, you would want to certainly turn if on.. But does not matter either way!!!!!
The Samsung (at least mine) has HDR+, which when turned on "upconverts" non HDR to a pseudo HDR. If an HDR program is detected then real HDR is displayed.
I have checked ch 540 through out the week & all has been normal. Early Saturday afternoon I checked ch 540 & it once again had sound but a blank, black screen. After resetting H3 all was normal & still is this Sunday morning. I checked the DVR recording & it was fine. Not sure what's going on here with 540 black screen. Reset fixes the problem but it's just odd. My cables are HDMI 2.0 & HDCP 2.2 complaint & my set is 4k but not HDR but that shouldn't matter. No one else is having this issue so that leaves the H3, I guess.Thanks, Camo! Could be. Saturday when this first happened I unplugged the HDMI cable, waited 5 seconds, & plugged back in without solving the issue. Reset did fix it. I know my cables are complaint. If no one else is experiencing an issue like this it has to have something to do with Dish. Either the outside dish is aimed wrong (doubtful) or the H3 is the problem (probable). I say probable because why would the recorded Planet Earth II, 4k not play at all? It had no sound, no picture until a reset of the H3.

I still don't see the answer, only that scottk52 was watching it in 5.1 audio. Previously the episode played but with problems in the audio, this seems to address that the audio problem was fixed.
My problem, shared by a few others is that the 4k Joey locks up the whole system when trying to play the 4k recording, which requires a reboot of the H3 to recover. scottk52 didn't have this problem, as far as I know.
Well, that sure seemed to me to answer your question. Also thought better for a first hand observation rather than me repeating one.
I recorded the replay, I think it started around midnight. I played part of it back (will watch the last part later today) and here are my observations: some stutter prior to the actual program starting (I have my recordings starting 1 minute early and ending 3 minutes late) but that cleared up and the half that I watched played flawlessly, from both a sound and video standpoint. I will report back if I notice any problems with the second half.
I watched the BBC 4K program last evening. Compared to last weeks episode it had improved, some minor audio issues and perhaps one pixelation hiccup. All in all not bad, but the shameless hawking of their programming, coming attractions, etc. diminishes the main event, which is quite good.
Shameless hawking? Is that is what is going on while I press my skip forward button!
I was just trying to get the 4K total experience...
My wife kept say the pq is great but the story is so busted up with other stuff it's distracting.
Maybe PBS will get 4K with no interruptions, the FF is awkward at best...for me...
