So delay the 4K Super Bowl coverage by one day, just like the VOD event that allows you to watch just the Super Bowl commercials without watching the game. In fact, there should be two delayed 4K Super Bowl events: one for just the game without commercials, and one for just the commercials without the game. Yay, Super Bowl commercials in 4K!The problem with 4K Superbowl coverage is it'd piss off local affiliates. Not sure how you bridge that gap.
The 4K Olympic coverage being delayed is annoying in trying to solve the local affiliate issue.
Those commercials are recorded to your DVR hard drive while it is in standby, and then triggered by a signal that Dish adds to the cable channel broadcast. If you are bored, you can watch the exact same channel in both windows of side-by-side PIP, and you will see the inserted ad in the left window with audio, while the original ad (that is being covered up by the inserted ad) plays in the right window without sound.Speaking of commercials, (sorry not 4k related)
Since when/how has dish had local commercials in the non local channels?
Ie a local furniture company ad in a diy channel?
Thank you for the info, I wondered how they did that. Those commercials are recorded to your DVR hard drive while it is in standby, and then triggered by a signal that Dish adds to the cable channel broadcast. From the article:
For those not familiar with 4K already, a 4K resolution (also known as Ultra HD)
So where can you go from Ultra? Will 8K be known as SDUHD? ( Sooper Dooper Ultra HD)
Some parts of Asia, Japan and S Korea already have it to some degree...8k probably won’t make it to the tv market. It’s more of a gaming thing. Or If you have a tv larger than 100”

As someone who's been in the biz since 1974, I can assure you, it will.8k probably won’t make it to the tv market.
...or which channel it will be on? Dish has two 4K channels in testing right now. (539 and 540)Well, Dish has now announced that they WILL be carrying the 4K HDR Olympic coverage, which is good news. However, the 4K channel is still not showing, and there is no 4K schedule as of yet. Any ideas on when we might expect something?
Direct is going to have a 4K channel and a 4K HDR channel. I would expect the same on Dish. 4K has always been on channel 540 so I would expect one or the other would be on that channel while the remainder would be on 539....or which channel it will be on? Darn, I was hoping that the two channels were because Dish was going to be carrying two different 4K events at the same time, not just two different versions of the same event.Direct is going to have a 4K channel and a 4K HDR channel. The 4K showing is from a common feed to all providers. Only selected events will be 4K and those will be shown a day late... Except, maybe the Opening Ceremonies...Darn, I was hoping that the two channels were because Dish was going to be carrying two different 4K events at the same time, not just two different versions of the same event.
I didn't mean different Olympic events. I meant something completely different, like the college basketball they used to show, or some other special event. The 4K showing is from a common feed to all providers. For the Olympics, an America's Top package should be all that is required. (Or maybe just local channels, if they only have delayed events that originally aired on NBC.) No sports pack should be needed. Thanks for the commercial info.
I'm not getting email updates to this message =(
So at the moment I do not even see channel 539 or 540 in my guide; but i also turned off the sports pack that had the channels during college football.
You won't see those channels until they come out of test and are released to the masses....Thanks for the commercial info.
