WKAQ is still available per Dish's website...

This will pose an interesting issue for Dish. Since the PR locals are on 110 and 99%+ installs 'see' only sat 119, will we have to buy the second antenna or will we get it installed for free like in the mainland? It has to be another biggie, like 3 or 4 feet because 110/119 are so low in the horizon.

HHHMMMM... Guess I'll give DISH a call later...

WKAQ was removed last night. I don't know what the status is this second, but a couple of e-mails tell me that it is not available in the PR package now.

See ya

Well, just called Dish and as I suspected, I'll need a (big) second antenna. I was told to contact the original installer and without any promotions, that second dish will cost an arm and a leg. :no

Something tells me not many people will sign up for locals here... :no

Dont you need like a 6 foot dish there for 110?

Seems as the SPOTBEAM should cover the area and you shouldnt have to have a huge ars dish

Wait...this is Dish Network...what am I thinking :)

At Team Summit Dish displayed a new device to be able to get signal from 110 and 119 on one dish. Ask around and see if anyone has more news. I would not listen to the CSR too much, most probally don't even know where PR is located at.

Wouldn't be the first time... :D Does this device allows an LNB to be mounted on top of another? Due to our latitude, the satellite arc is very high in the sky. So an antenna with LNB's side-by-side would have to be mounted lopsided. :(

Iceberg, I believe the spotbeam will cover the area just fine. Due to our location, the 110/119 west satellites are very low in the horizon, requiring big reflectors. The standard installation uses a 4 feet reflector (although I've seen some 36" reflectors for Dish). I paid $100 extra for a 5 footer and when it rains very hard, I lose signal. Not too often, but it happens maybe once every 6 weeks...

My sister has Directv, they had a 36" reflector installed but since their satellite is higher up in the sky she doesn't have problems with rain fade.

Follow up here...

Just talked to the company that did my original installation regarding reception of locals (Skytenna). They say the spotbeam is powerful enough to use a 18" dish.

So I ordered the second antenna. Installation for one TV is $25 and includes the switch.

They also have a 4' reflector for $350 and a 5' reflector for $400...

Will update when I get the second dish installed... :)

I got the locals included in the Puerto Rico offer included.

$29.99 with NY and PR local channels included.
Not bad IMO.

BTW, US Net ASSURED me that UnivisionPR (11) and Deportes13 (13) should be added by sept.

Now, would that be early or late sept? good question.

Thanks for the reply Iceberg! I thought it was only the locals, not the big 4... :) Right now I have Fox and PBS a la carte...

DBSOgre, WIPR (channel 6) transmits very little from PBS... It's mostly local programming... :(

vakero, thanks for clarifying that for me. WOOHOO! :) Supposedly, Univision PR (channel 11) is doing some tests... Bet they didn't specified september of what year...
:D

Actually, Deportes13 is more important to me.

They now have exclusive right for the PR basketball league.

Vaqueros ahi!!!
