Ok this must be my night for dish problems lol... First my 510 overheats on me (see post in dvr forum - btw it seemed to resolve itself, the fan is working again)

my 301 has an issue with losing its programming... Its never bothered me before till I had to spend an hour on the phone with dish to get through tonite...

What happens is that it shuts off all programming except the 'freebie' channels... They have to send a hit to the reciever to reactivate it... This has happened several times and the csr just says they dont know why it happens but they are always happy to send down the hit and thank me for using dish...

Its not bad cause its my bedroom reciever which I dont use much but is a pain when I want to watch it I have to call dish to get them to activate it...

any sugesstions?

The only reason why a receiver would normally lose its authorization is if it has been disconnected from the power outlet or from the satellite dish over an extended period of time such as a few weeks or longer. Have you had the receiver disconnected for a while? Does it have a blue card or a yellow Dish500 card?

that reciever I usually leave on because the tv is old style (no remote lol) and im usually too lazy to turn off the reciever lol... But... new news on this one... It never came back on.. this time I got through in 8 mins wow! The guy this time looked into it and saw that my new yellow card went out March 1st but I never got it.. so they have to send out a new smartcard. In the meantime, he reactivated the old smartcard... Strange tho.. he said that they were only replacing the smart card in the 301, not the 510....

btw I never mentioned in either post... this happens every couple of months that they have to reactivate it... most of the time it totally resets, whereas a few times it only lost a handfull of channels... actually I remember once It just turned off USA network... weird
