my neighbor gave me a couple of old receivers.i was going to activate one for a spare room.can either one still be used? is one better than the other?

If you are on the Eastern Arc, they cannot be used because Eastern Arc needs MPEG4 capable boxes.

And aren't there rumors of the other satellites being converted to 8PSK?

The 2700 is slightly newer/better.

We need to know your LNB/switch configuration (menu-menu or menu-6-1-1-CheckSwitch-ViewResults) and if you have an available receiver output.

Neither will get your locals (your location is a 8PSK capable receiver only market)

the 3000 is O L D

The 2700 would work better

If Dish activates these receivers they will require the new G4 purple card. You can get them free by adding the $5.99 DHPP warranty to your account then dropping the warranty after you get your cards. Dish Network plans on replacing all legacy and 301 and 501/508/510 receivers next year with 8PSK receivers.

I have 2 508's active what will they replace those with???
I dont want to pay a dvr fee???

I imagine that they will replace them with a 522 or a 612 receiver. I am hoping that they waive the DVR fees on the replacement receivers like they did with the 721's. They also have 211 receivers that become a DVR when connecting external hard drive to it so maybe they will provide something to that nature as well.

Best Deal for Dish Network Without Credit Card / Referral Program ?
