WOW. That was a bit harsh in my opinion.
if this was ALL he ever did yes. and he said this was the only issue he considered. so in that it is a over reach imo
so words could cause one to be banded for life ? sell your team ? ....... far out

Nah not at all, well to me anyway. It is perfect, and now they need to get his ass to sell the team. We don't need this bigot trash in the league.
You're generalizing and that's an error on your part my friend. Each case is different and honestly I don't care what the commissioner says, the past had some influence in his decision. It had to because many folks are wondering why action wasn't taken with this man in the past.
Everything I've been hearing on sports radio leads me to believe that the entire league has known what kind of person he is for a very long time. He has gotten in trouble for this reason in the past and now they are finally doing something about it. If this were the first time this had ever happened I would say the penalty is very harsh but in this case I agree with it. How can you own a team that is almost entirely made of black players and be that racist?
Sterling has been a millstone around the Clippers neck for as long as he has owned them(did he own them when they were the Buffalo Braves?). They FINALLY become competitive & he STILL finds a way to pull them down. he deserves to be banned based on the totally of how he ran the team & how he had to say a stupid racist comment to distract from the success that his team finally achieved,no thanks to him.
kinda have to agree with Ramy since his comments were made in private....that was until a gold digging hoochie made them public by illegally recording him.

Makes good points about how the NBA knew that he was like this for years. It wasn't just a tape recording,he's had a long record of this behavior.
