2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs

...and not a fan left the building until the Cup was awarded and the Bruins skated with it on the ice - unlike the Miami fans who were heading out the gates with 3-minutes left to play. Better yet, we didn't have to read one single I hate LeBron James post. ;)

That reminds me, people in these parts have started to call the Vancouver goalie....Roberto LeBrongo....for his less than stellar performance in the clutch!

Bruins are the first team to win three Game 7's in the same season!

And I'm saying it now, Tim Thomas had the best goaltending performance in the storied history of the Stanley Cup Playoffs!

Timmy will go down in Boston sports lore with Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Bobby Orr, Tom Brady, Adam Vinatieri and David Ortiz!! :)

Tuukka Rask will be jealous. :D

The Patriots are now the Boston team with the longest championship drought. They last won wayyyyy back in Feb. 2005! :D

We had a severe thunderstorm blow through our area right before the start of the 1st intermission. It knocked out our electricity & we just now got our electricity back up. This is the first time I've found out who won the Stanley Cup. I don't even know the final score yet.

4-0. Bruins .... :-)

Roberto (the seive) was in the net for the whole game.
I think it was 3-0 midway thru the game and an empty netter was the last goal.

Vncouver had plenty of time to get back in the game, but were never able to.

Concequently, the pissed Canuck fans rioted and turned over vehicle and set them on fire .....

WHY fans do this is beyond me.

Enjoy it while you can.

Sure wish I could just enjoy one championship for my two primary teams but I don't think that is going to happen for a very very very long time.

Bruins should be landing at Logan ~8:30am. Early reports state only a handful of arrests. For the most part, the crowds were pretty well behaved.
No confirmed day for the parade. Should be Friday or Saturday.

Congrats to you Bruins Fans....I believe you know how jealous I am....whereas my Sabres are looking for their first stanley cup victory. I think the list now is Toronto 44 years since winning the cup....Buffalo and Vancouver...at 40 of years of existence and no cup victories. I think my chances are better than Vancouver's now....especially since we have a owner will spend to win the Cup now (hmmm....Bieksa and Spezza or Richards would look good in Blue and Gold to along with Ryan Miller and company). Imagine after Roberto's grand performance, you only have 10 more years of him on his 11 year contract.

Boston sports fan are a loyal lot. The Bruins and Red Sox have a long history of drawing well even without a championship. The Celtics popularity does ebb a nd flow a bit based on their success and we will see if the Pats fans stick around if they ever have a couple of bad seasons. but i suspect that tehy are more a part of the regional conscioussness than they were when they were called the Patsies.
