2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Here's an interesting fun fact for the upcoming SCF- both these teams were taken to overtime in game 7 in the first round.
Good point.....so whoever wins the Cup, was one bad bounce away from playing golf BACK IN MID-APRIL!!!

Just heard this game was the first playoff game without a penalty called in 20 years. Hmmmm. :)

I thought it was the first penalty-free playoff game since 1953. Yikes! It was a very clean game and I guess when there are no fragrant penalties then the other stuff gets ignored. I'm glad they let 'em play last night. IMO, Boston is a much better 5-on-5 team than they are a speacial-teams team so the Bruins benefitted from a penalty-free game.

And when the 3rd period started, you were assured that unless it was an absolute penalty, nothing was gonna be called as the officials DON'T want to be the cause of a game being decided ....

The Bruins-Canucks series ranks as the longest distance between Stanley Cup finalists. Interestingly enough, the Canucks three Cup appearances are all in the top four all-time.

1. Bruins-Canucks 2011- 2,504 miles
2. Kings-Canadiens 1993- 2,469 miles
3. Canucks-Islanders 1982- 2,448 miles
4. Canucks-Rangers 1994- 2,429 miles

Well, it's a good thing we don't put a team in Fairbanks Alaska. ;)

I am surprised that Calgary & Tampa aren't in the mix.

These team are similar- great goaltending, good defensive corps, solid forwards.

The crowds at Rogers Arena and the Garden are gonna be off the charts.

My prediction- no offense, Bill, but I am going Canucks in 6 hard-fought games.

Friday night's Lightning-Bruins game 7 was the highest rated Conference Final game on cable since Avalanche-Red Wings game 7 in 2002 (Wings won that game 7-0).

Also, it was the highest rated non-SCF game ever on Versus/Outdoor Life Network.

A dark day for the NHL.

As the rest of the sunbelt, and then the lower midwestern teams colapse, the national interest dies, and the league becomes a non-entity south of I-70, and of no interest to any national broadcaster.

Enjoy watching the Stanley Cup finals on youtube.

Well, it easily could have been much worse, Vancouver and TB would have been about the most you can get, short of Miami (Florida Panthers)

Are they ever gonna play this series ?

What are they trying to do, copy the dreaded NBA ?

No catering to the NBA!

Anyhow I'm going for the Canucks to take the cup, in 5 games.

It was a total fluke the Bruins beat Tampa Bay in game 7

Are you a Season Ticket Holder?

Did I miss anything when I was gone?
