2011 AL Central Thread

I agree with you on the White Sox. Can't stand them or their coach, Ozzie. They do have quite the pitching staff though, and that's why they'll probably hang around.

Even us Sox fans either love or hate Ozzie, but most love him. He's a very good manager and not afraid to speak his mind. Players love playing for him too. If this team hits at all, they're leading the division. Good pitching and the best fielding team in baseball. But, you goota hit with men on base. BTW, they just won again tonight.

Ugly ass baseball tonight. Pathetic baseball, and where has the Superstar been lately? I think it's time for him to step up, It's August already. Time for him to rake.

Anyone stay up for the anti-climatic hit-by-a-pitch walk off in the bottom of the 14th?

A few things.....

-Both starting pitchers were pulled after the 2nd inning because of the 2 hour rain delay.

-The Indians were on their last reliever in the 14th. Later, manager Manny Acta said he was considering putting in starting pitcher Josh Tomlin for the 15th.

-After striking out his previous four at-bats, Fukudome was plunked on the arm to walk-in the winning run, giving the Tribe their 13th last at bat win at home this season.

-Who said a Yankee vs. Red Sox game lasts a long time? Pft. The Indians/Tigers game took 4 hours, 43 minutes and a 2-hour rain delay to complete.

-The Indians have won 12 straight over the Tigers at home. Cleveland is 4-0 at home this year with all four wins coming in the final at bat, three on walkoffs!

-The better late than never, refuse to surrender Tribe is just 3 games back of first place now. Jimenez vs. Porcello face off tonight. Get some sleep boys! Should be another thriller!

I sat through the whole thing. It was a very tough loss. I don't think it was all Pauley's fault though. It looked like Guillen had a double play ball hit at him with one out, but he didn't make the play. Instead of being out of the inning Pauley had men on first and third with one out.

I disagree with whoever said it was a pathetic game though. I don't mind watching pitching match ups. It doesn't have to be a high scoring game to be an exciting one for me and last night I was on the edge of my seat for all 4 hours and 43 minutes.

On a more positive note for us Tigers fans.... our rookie Duane Below has retired 22 straight batters since moving to the pen. He is 5 away from what would be a perfect game. I know its not the same thing but its still pretty impressive. He will have to have his good stuff for 4 or 5 straight games instead of being good for one game like Galaraga was a few years ago.

If the rest of the series is as tight as last night I will be pretty happy. We need to end this stupid losing streak in Cleveland. If they can pull out a win tonight you have to feel good about our chances of taking the series with Verlander going in the last game.

I agree. It was a game of sound defense (for the most part) and great relief pitching. Neither team gave an inch. For nearly 7 hours.

Back to the negative side, games ending around 2:00AM are terrible for my productivity at work. I think I'm going to need a nap before the game tonight.

Indians jumping on Tigers tonight, Porcello gave up 4 in 4 innings, gonna be an.other long night for the pen.
Last I saw it was 8-3 Indians.

Jimenez earned his Wahoo feather tonight. Great performance!

On another note: "We are all Kipnises"! Jason Kipnis, the recent 2B call-up from the minors went 5 for 5!

13 in a row at home for the Tribe! See you tomorrow Verlander!

Jimenez pitched a good game tonight. He gave up 3 runs, but the Indians have 10. The Indians are looking like genius' for picking him up in a trade.

He's pitched 2 games for them, the first one was not very impressive, this one better.
Hardly enough to say it was a Great trade...

The Verlander start has turned into a must win for the Tigers after the first 2 games of this series. It was sad to see Porcello pitch like that tonight after going 5-0 with a low ERA in his last 6 starts.

Oh well, now we need to do the same thing to you guys next weekend on our field and get our lead back. It seems impossible for the Tigers to win at Progressive now.

Verlander's been in this spot many times ... they will be fine, this series in not a make or break the season one, theres still a lot of time left in the season.

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
