LOVE the soft ultimatum by the owners:

The league even added an enticement, promising to lift the lockout on Saturday and open the doors to training facilities to all players under contract if the NFLPA’s executive committee gave an initial approval advising the rest of the players to approve the deal when the NFLPA re-certifies as a union.

Players scoff at trumpeting of labor 'agreement' - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

As if ANYONE, regardless of the line of business you were in, would EVER agree to something without going over a it with a magnifying glass!

What is the point I proved? Try discussing the topic instead of playing this 'GOTCHA!' Bullsh!t. You are just making stuff up (in bold), that quote just proved it because of 10 year CBA - Google Search. You have yet to post a link to show you didn't just pick some random thing (10 year deal) and go into 'omg they want to eat our children mode' like many players did on Twitter'. It's all FUD.

Dude.... I originally posted that and stated that the players, and of course, their reaction has proved that, that there was no clause to opt out. You even posted it FOR ME. In fact, you now have already posted TWICE what I said from my inital post. I thank you...move on, I will.

From Jason Lacanfora on Twitter:

In advising its player reps on rookie pool, NFLPA projected Cam Newton would get $22M over 4 yrs and, another $14.3M in a 5th-year option...

###

For those that don't know, the first 8 or 10 picks will get a 4 year contract with a 5th year option. The wrinkle is the option has to be picked up during the third year, and is the average of the top 10 players at their position. So the above is just an estimate since obviously the top 10 change every year. Especially in Newton's case, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees will have new deals before his option must be picked up.

That reads like "If the NFLPA approves the deal we'll start working towards opening the doors" to me, what did you want?

Again, would you agree to a contract that you have not thoroughly gone over? The owners want an approval without the players going over it...THAT is what is being said.

The owners, 'You want the lockout lifted, agree that you agree with what we have voted for and promise us the rest of the sheep will follow'.... Yep, negociation in good faith... LOL!

You haven't backed up sh*t, can't argue with stupid I guess.

The players reaction obviously means they don't want to play football.

The players reaction obviously means the Raiders are a sh!tty team.

The players reaction means they want the US economy to default.

The players reaction means the terrorists win.

The players reaction means Duke Nukem was a great game, just misunderstood.

All of the above is correct because the players had a reaction.

No, I don't need to post any proof, the players HAD A REACTION!

Again, I said I wouldn't. The latter is going to happen anyways (NFLPA and player reps will agree to deal before putting it to a vote) but nice spin though ... and yesterday I linked to an OWNER saying this wasn't a drop dead take it or leave it deal.

The deadlines are in order for the league to open for business. If they're not met then things have to be refactored, HOF game already canceled, first week of free agency could be lost.

I think you are frequently forgetting that most if not all of this was put together after several weeks of negotiations.

Yesterday was actually pretty exciting, I'm at home with my wife and our son who is 3 weeks old today and got to watch all of this unfold on NFLN, it was fun watching Rich Eisen slowly get more and more frustrated. It was like having any fan sitting there riding a roller coaster as the day progressed.... huge progress with owners like a slowly building lift leading to that huge drop and the relief of the rest of the ride.... and then it got stuck at the top and stopped moving. That's happened to me on a coaster at Six Flags once, heh.

It's still on the tracks, it will get done. Cooler heads (few/none found in this thread) will prevail.

Hey Salsa,
Are the Raiders going to sign Bruce Gradkowski when the lockout is settled, or is he done with them ?

Nope. They have Campbell, they have someone else...cannot remember. The heavy rumor that just won't go away is the Raiders picking your boy from tOSU, Terrell Pryor in the 3rd round of the supplement draft OR if they do not have a supp. draft, signing him outright as a project QB. I do not know to feel about it, due to my dislike of the Buckeyes...no offense. But, regardless of my feelings, under the right QB coach, Hue Jackson, yhe headcoach, and no hurry...he might be something in a few years.

Who knows....

Last I heard the Bucs were taking a hard look at Pryor too. With Freeman looking like a pretty good QBOTF so far he'd probably hold a clipboard a couple/few years before either taking over or traded.

Looks like league year may start Wednesday, with free agency starting Saturday after progress was made today and the NFLPA arranged to get together Monday as a result.

According to Adam Schefter, the Monday vote will just be a formality:

The NFL Players Association and the league's owners have reached agreement on the remaining points needed in their 10-year labor deal, sources from both sides said.

Despite the fact the new agreement will require a majority vote from the players, that part of the deal between the two sides is considered a formality, according to sources.

The NFLPA is making plans for a major press conference Monday. But first the player reps' executive committee is scheduled to fly to Washington, D.C., on Sunday so they can vote Monday.

I wish you luck if that scenario come to be...
Personally, I hope he does well, but don't see it.

I really think he could be a very good WR in a few years.

As for Bruce, I saw an interview on the news the other night, he's playing the waiting game, but I have no doubt someone
will pick him up.

Well, the thought is, he would hold a clipboard for at least 2 years because this is Jason's team and he is only 28 or 29. I love Bruce's leadership and his take charge personality, but ME at 46, has more arm than he does.

Lots of VERY GOOD QB's don't have GREAT arm strength.

I'd rather have Accuracy over anything else throwing wise.

I would too...and his was spotty at times. Also, we need a more mobile QB. I honestly believe the Raiders are gonna implement some more "wildcat" into their scheme. They have a very good 1-2 punch in McFadden and Bush at RB and a very mobile Campbell.

Brue was a statue back there and it cause us some import field position and it almost cost him his life. The couple of kids the Raiders picked up in the draft will hopefully help with some of the pass protection. I am also hoping for a veteran OL FA or two.
