I don't see where anyone suggested that... I'm all for disagreeing but you're trying to hard. Your point is spot on... but about Tebow.
Newton is 6th in the NFL in passing, averaging 299 a game, completing 60% of his passes.
Tebow's on his second year in the league (which counts for something even if he hasn't started, and the offensive scheme has changed) and is averaging less than 50% completions, and 90 yards passing per game. He's so good Elway says the starting QB position is 'week to week' even after this big win in the Raiders' house.
Tebow holds the ball so long that he's 2 away from the number of Sacks that Cam Newton has had in 8 games.
I mean, if you were trying to pick between Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown, and Tim Tebow (maybe throw Vick into the mix and it would be an interesting age vs investment debate) as a wildcat QB I could understand picking him, but how do you pick Newton over Tebow? All signs point to Newton being a quick learner and only getting better as the team around him is put together by his new coach.
I just don't see on paper how you pick one over the other, unless you think as this new offense Denver's put together will continue his 6:1 TD to INT ratio and Tebow will be able to run for 100 yards per game, which they won't as teams study and pick it apart.
I don't see how if Brady went down, you'd be more comfortable with Tebow stepping in over Cam Newton. At this point in his career I think all Tebow has proven is that he can pray in public better than him.
