-New England and Matt Light reached an agreement that the former Pro-Bowl OT is scheduled to sign with the Patriots later today.

-Browns acquired offensive lineman John Greco from the Rams for an undisclosed 2012 draft choice.

Interesting info tweeted today concerning Nnamdi...

Michael Lombardi from NFL.COM via Twitter
"Hearing Houston has moved into the lead for Nnamdi Asomugha—money will be in the 12-14 mill per year range...Revis makes 11.5 per year."

Then ESPN's Paul Kuharsky, on Twitter, pointed out that Houston has no state Income tax, which makes any offer they propose a little sweeter

Hmmmm...interesting how the no state income tax comes to play in all these professional athletes contracts.....

Hmmmm...interesting how yet another player (Asomugha) picks a team in a state that DOES have a state income tax, over one that DOESN'T. And yet state income tax is brought up here over and over and over again.

You just can't make this stuff up.

As of 1/1/11, there are only seven states that don't have a state income tax: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Kinda restricts professional tax-free team destinations...

And btw, just so we're all clear, those are states without State Income tax only. Those states make up their taxes elsewhere. (Ie, higher property taxes, merchandise taxes, etc).

LOL and it's not like NFL free agents have a history of beating down the doors of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans or Seattle Seahawks.

It is brought up over and over again because some seem to think it plays no barring on where a free agent of any sport may want to go....when their agent brings it up, it does have a barring. But, I guess you would know this because you have dealt with free agents before....correct?

Florida and Texas have higher property taxes and sales taxes than New York or California?!

Agents bring up everything and anything they possibly can to generate interest, or at least the appearance of interest, in their client.

So who signed with the Texans because of no state income tax?

New Hampshire doesn't have an income tax on wages or salary. They only tax interest and dividend income. Unfortunately, they don't have any major league sports franchises at present.

They make up for the revenue shortfall by profitably operating liquor stores on the Massachusetts and Maine borders, and by not providing its citizens with vital services.

Not disagreeing with you statement. But the fact that it is brought up means it is considered.

Whether it's considered or not, it doesn't seem to be much of a factor...evidenced by all those Houston Texans playoff appeareances, achieved with all the great free agents they've signed.

Gotta have the $$ to MAKE those free agent signs.

Another thing I hear is "the weather".

Really? Weather is a factor? Especially when you travel constantly and in some sports play indoors. Weather is a factor supposedly.

The #Giants have given Osi Umenyiora's agent permission to work out a trade for the 2-time Pro Bowl DE, sources told Sal Paolantonio.

Not from me. Weather has no financial barring.

Fan-freaking-tastic!!! UGH!!!

From Rotoworld:

Brodrick Bunkley has yet to report to Browns training camp and "no one knows if he ever will."

Bunkley was shipped from Philly to Cleveland on Saturday, a move he couldn't have been pleased with. The Browns remain on the hook for the 2012 fifth-rounder they sent to the Eagles even if Bunkley doesn't show because NFL trades are made "at your own risk." The Browns clearly didn't do enough digging into the player.

Personally I'm glad the Jets did not sign Asomugha. That would be overkill, way too much money to spend on one position, when there are other needs to fill.

Personally I want to find out if Asomugha's actual ability lives up to his reputation. Philly will be a different world than Oakland, and as Rex Ryan always says....'we gonna find out'.

Also, after last year's holdout, there is no way on earth the Jets could pay Asomugha even one penny more than Revis. Should be a very interesting year in the NFC East.

From the Jets standpoint, I will REALLY miss Braylon Edwards.
