2010-11 NFL Season

I thought that "flex" was only for moving a game to Sunday Night?
That's what it's mainly used for, but the NFL can also move games to 4:05 and 4:15 during the flex period.

BTW, the Sunday night game that week (Chargers-Colts) will remain on NBC.

Kind of a good news/bad news situation for the Redskins yesterday:

Bad news : Management gives McNabb a new 5 yr. deal. Isn't this guy going to be 34 in a few weeks?

Good news: They had front row seats for one of the most astounding personal performances ever witnessed in the NFL by Vick.

Sanchez & Colt Thru First 4 Games:

Remember when everyone was ragging on the Browns for trading down in the '09 draft with the Jets who ultimately took their QB of the future in Mark Sanchez? Well, so far things are looking like we might've pulled a fast one. By trading down last year, we got a pro-bowl caliber Center in Alex Mack (plus a few Jet players). This year we took our franchise QB in McCoy....

Sanchez:
63-110 (57%) for 744 yards, 4 TD's, 5 INT's, 5 fumbles (2 lost), 1 rushing TD

McCoy:
64-99 (64%) for 734 yards, 2 TD's, 2 INT's, 0 fumbles, 1 rushing TD

Also, don't forget the $$ savings we are getting by not having a first round QB salary until Colt ultimately gets a raise if he remains the starter....

Sanchez contract details:
6/10/2009: Signed a five-year, $44.5 million contract. The deal includes $28 million guaranteed. Sanchez can earn $6 million more via "likely to be earned" incentives. Another $9.5 million is available through escalators, but they are "unlikely to be earned." 2010: $6,442,500 (+ $10 million guaranteed option bonus), 2011: $13.5 million, 2012: $8.5 million, 2013: $4 million, 2014: Free Agent

Colt contract details:
7/22/2010: Signed a four-year, $4.96 million contract. The deal contains $1.07 million guaranteed, including a $751,000 signing bonus. 2010-2013: Under Contract, 2014: Free Agent

Daze of our Lions

This team just astounds me with their futility. I'm putting this one on the coaching. These guys didn't look inspired, more like tired. Bonehead coaching decisions again involving clock management, unimaginative offensive play calling, and yet once again, too many penalties. They just can't seem to teach any discipline here.

By the numbers:

8- the number of penalties in the first quarter.

7 - the number of first downs in the first half by the Lions offense.

25 - The new record for road futility.

24 - The old record for being winless on the road. Achieved twice now by the Lions in the last decade of play.

1 - The number of games the St. Louis Rams won last season. Guess who they beat? Also the likely number of wins Buffalo will have this season. At least the Lions are protective of their most famous record : 0-16

76 - Number of rushing yards.

32 - the Bills ranking in rushing defense.

Excuse me, I have to go buy a new plasma TV. I shot mine yesterday.

If your team doesn't win...try to win the statistics battle instead. Tried and true method of making yourself feel better when you lose on the scoreboard. ;)

I'm sure it would not be difficult to find statistics that say in one way or another that both Colt McCoy and Mark Sancez have better stats than Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, and a bunch of other Hall of fame QB's.

Hey, whatever floats your boat...when the lake isn't on fire. ;)

If you're on the other side of the argument...try to bash the opposing city instead. Tried and true method of making yourself feel better when you lose on the message board. ;)

PS, Newark is the ugliest city I've ever seen. :D

The Redskins' humilating performance last night- hard to believe this team beat the Packers and Bears, both tied for first place in the NFC North.

Condider this stat- the Redskins have not won a Monday Night Football game at home in 13 years, having lost their 10 games on MNF.

Since then, every other team has won at least one home game on Monday night.

With seven games left, it's wayyyyyy too early to be discussing possible playoff matchups. But after looking at CBS Sportsline's "If the season ended today......", I found the matchups on the AFC side rather intriguing!

AFC byes:
(1) Jets (7-2)
(2) Ravens (6-3)

Wildcard matchups:
(5) Patriots (7-2) at (4) Raiders (5-4)
(6) Steelers (6-3) at (3) Colts (6-3)

NFC byes:
(1) Falcons (7-2)
(2) Eagles (6-3)

Wildcard matchups:
(5) Giants (6-3) at (4) Seahawks (5-4)
(6) Saints (6-3) at (3) Bears (6-3)

Camdem is uglier actually...but at least they're not Cleveland!

Seriously, comparing the statistics of QB's is ridiculous, and can be manipulated any way you like. Look at the all-time QB rating list. Chad Pennington is number 6. Neil Lomax is number 25. Dave Krieg is number 34.

Dan Fouts is number 44, John Elway is number 45 and Johnny Unitas is number 54.

Shows you how important statistics are for quarterbacks.

The ones that have played. ;) Don't think the Lions have even played on MNF.

Interestingly, during the first quarter melt down of penalties, the majority of them were FALSE Starts with an occasional holding thrown in for good measure.

The False Starts really baffle me.... nothing is happening, these penalties are self inflicted, the other team can't even set you up for them, they happen BEFORE the ball is snapped for gosh sakes. UGH.

Not if your specific in what you are comparing. IF you throw a broad blanket like "who was the best QB of all time"? Well guess what, the stats and arguments can go ANYWHERE. But how can you argue that Chad Pennington is not one of the most efficient QBs of all time? Does that make him a great QB? No. Does that make him a HOF QB? Nope. But there is no denying he was MORE efficient than Dan Fouts, John Elway AND Johnny Unitas...plain and simple.

Again, it ALL depends on what you are arguing. Numbers NEVER lie...they are TRUE facts. Plain and simple. The only person that can make the numbers lie is the one spinning the story.

I find it ironic that people will state numbers are no big deal in one sport, but in another sport, they litteraly mean everything.

What Michael Vick is doing is something that no one could've ever predicted. He's better now than he's ever been. Anyone who says they could've "predicted" this is lying.

Very true. But EVERYONE in here thought he was "overrated" and there was 'no way he could be good enough to be a starter again'...

Ahhh Yes...

Read my post. I said Russell's second season as a starter.

But don't let facts get in the way of your rant...

Sandra

Sorry, but your quote was "Jamarcus had a wonderful second season as a starter. 11 interceptions, 3 TD's, a 2-7 record and he lost his job"...He lost his job in the THIRD season. He had a pretty decent 2nd season. He started his 1st 15 games which led to hope. Better than Mark Sanchez's first 15 starts. There are the stats to prove it:

G GS comp att pct yds avg td int rate
2008 Oakland Raiders 15 15 198 368 53.8 2,423 6.6 13 8 77.1
2009 New York Jets 15 15 364 196 53.8 2,444 6.7 12 20 63.0

Yep, those are the stats of BOTH QBs in their 1st 15 starts. Yep, what was it that you said....Oh yeah, "But don't let facts get in the way of your rant....":haha:haha:haha

Ok, The way I read it was ever. However, I've been in and out alot lately and trying to play catch up ....
Working a ton of late ...

I think Sabres said in the last 13 years

EXACTLY!!! This is what I've been saying all along. You can make numbers say anything you like by which numbers you use, and how you use them. ;)

Yay! We agree!

The only numbers that don't lie in professional sports are the ones in the W and L columns. Write that down. In ink.
