2010-11 NFL Season

If the call is accurate, which is was, how is it a gift? There were many bad calls in this game, mostly against the Jets. That was not one of them.

That's not DPI. Holmes pushed off first. If anything it should of been a no call on 4th down. If that was PI than they should of called it when Leanord did it to Thomas on the broncos last drive.

The refs were defiantly wearing green and white stripes today, and not black and white.

I don't know how the defender turning the WR's head via pulling his facemask while the ball is in the air is not PI... absent that it becomes a no-call and Denver wins.

How does that work if Holmes pushed off first which caused the very weak "facemask"

How can you even defend the NFL PI rules, the call on Brandon Flowers at the end of the game against Johnson was equally horrible. Competition committee in the NFL is a freaking joke.

Meanwhile, McNabb is giving the fans their money's worth this evening. His timing has been erratic all season, but his veteran poise has been exceptional.

Sabre....We, as in TRUE Raiders fans, expected improvements....not a play off winning season, but improvements none the less. But this team does something new EVERY WEEK to just piss the entire Raider Nation off beyond human belief. One week, they just gave up(against the Titans), another week...they showed NO energy(this week against the 49ers)...another, no f***ing heart(against the Texans) and absolutely complete lack of importance of completing plays AND games(against the Cardinals).

I haven't seen the play, but, usually they look at the call and determine if the WR that pushed off was a hard enough push to call, as in did the defender actually take a step backwards, if not, it's a non call.

No doubt.

He was reaching back to find out where Holmes was and accidentally got his facemask. Hill was looking back for the ball at that time. And Holmes was already falling down.

I was SO disgusted with the lack of effort put on by the Raiders....I mean the 49ers did EVERYTHING they could to give that game away that is was pathetic. The Raiders ON PAPER, have a much more talented team at the most important positions....but as we ALL KNOWS, games are not won on paper but on the field.

Ditto. Just substitute Chargers for Raiders.

Listen to this line MDonnelly..... 8 for 21, 69 yards passing. Those are Ja-Fata$$ type numbers. The most disheartening thing of the whole game, was when he threw an intercept and Hue Jackson went to explain to his what he did wrong....he just sort of stood there like a deer in headlights. I mean he was not an upset with himself....his play....NOTHING! Just sort of stood there....

Ah, sweet memories of Bobby Layne and the championship years of '52, '53 and '57. Of course, those memories were passed down from family members who actually lived through these years since I wasn't born until '63. In that same year William Clay Ford, Sr. purchased the Lions and the organization has been a complete and utter failure under his family's ownership the past 47-years. I am hoping to live long enough to witness the Lions win a Super Bowl...but there is no chance of that ever happening under their current Nazi ownership. Of course, these Nazi are out to exterminate the Detroit Lions from existence. Who have imagined that Wayne Fontes would wind-up being the greatest coach in Lions history. P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C!!!

This COMPLETELY falls on the coaching staff. IF they are not up to snuff, cut their ass..make some trades...pick-up players that have been released....SOMETHING to shake the mother-pussbucket-crappy-ass team.....!! You thought last week, with a tough win against a hated rival would spark this team to a little run. But you can almost see today that they thought by just showing up, the 49ers were gonna lay down and just shrivel up in a fetal position and die. I give the 49ers alot of credit for showing some heart....while the Raiders showed little testicular fortitude to deserve to be even on the same field as the 49ers.

Sorry, had to vent....I can only burn so many Raider hats!

Quit beating around the bush, how do you REALLY feel?

With a back up QB.

Also, Hill was hurt in this weeks game, will he be OK for next week or is Stanton starting, or is Stafford going to make it back this year ?

Stafford was ready to play yesterday, he tried sneaking into the game when Hill got hurt. he will start after the bye week.

Meanwhile it's business as usual yesterday for the Lion's. Still finding a way to shoot themselves in the foot. I'm tired of writing about it, so just read one of my posts from any of the previous seasons. It will apply. Still.

OK....after my massive football kneejerk reaction to the Raiders debacle, I sat down and watched the game with a NON-JUDGEMENTAL eye(....I know what you are saying, "is that even possible??!!"...:p) and here is the positives I saw:

-When the Raiders went man-to-man and blitz SF, the 49ers were helpless. The LONE time they went to a non-man coverage, they got burned by Crabtree running free over the middle for a 38 yard TD. Nnamdi was on him on the 1st half...and the 1st half results...zero catch for zero yards....hear THAT defensive coordinator John Marshall.

-Matt Shaughnessy had a monster game....when he played. This guy should be starting. I know that 6 tackles and 1 sack is not much, but after his 2nd series playing, he was double teamed every single time he came in. He has learned a TON under the tutelage Richard Seymour.

-Special teams improved again since the blown game by special teams vs. the Cardinals. Man, if they ever gave points in 'fantasy' leagues for punter and kickers, we would have the most wanted tadem in the NFL...:p

-Penalties are down....somewhat. The Raiders this year have actually had 4 games where the opposing team had MORE penalties than they did. BUUUTTTT...having 7 or 8 penalties is 3 or 4 more than you should have. And of course, you can have only 1 or 2 penalties...and they can be game killers.

In the end...more than Cable will be blamed. He DOES deserve some of the blame...BUT is also does not have a say so on who hires and fires assistant coach when they f***-up. Personally, I think the Raider organization should give Mr. Marshall ONE MORE game before the chop off his head. And Mr. Jackson, you be looking over his shoulder.

....damn....I needed to get that off my chest. Sorry folks....:(

I hope your planning to live well into your 100's then .....

This should make for some VERY interesting comments from both "old school" players...

...and current players, especially the ones giving and getting the punishment.

NFL to announce suspensions for hits

By Chris Mortensen-ESPN

The NFL will announce by Wednesday that effective this weekend that even first-time offenders face suspension for "devastating hits" and "head shots," according to Ray Anderson, the league's executive vice president of football operations.

"We can't and won't tolerate what we saw Sunday," Anderson said Monday. "We've got to get the message to players that these devastating hits and head shots will be met with a very necessary higher standard of accountability. We have to dispel the notion that you get one free pass in these egregious or flagrant shots."

Anderson was alluding to the normal disciplinary measures in which the league has issued fines for first-time offenders and, very often, second-time offenders.

"What we saw Sunday was disturbing," Anderson said. "We're talking about avoiding life-altering impacts."

Sunday's games produced a number of violent hits.

The Eagles' DeSean Jackson and the Falcons' Dunta Robinson were knocked out of their game after a frightening collision in which Robinson launched himself head first into Jackson. Both sustained concussions, and Jackson is not expected to play in Week 7.

Ravens tight end Todd Heap took a vicious hit from Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather that Heap called "one of those hits that shouldn't happen." The team was in contact with the league about the tackle.

Steelers linebacker James Harrison sidelined two Browns players with head injuries after jarring hits. An NFL spokesman said one of the tackles, on Josh Cribbs, was legal. The Browns were more upset about Harrison's hit on Mohamed Massaquoi, which the league is reviewing.

And Jets safety Jim Leonhard was flagged 15 yards for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Brandon Lloyd in a 24-20 win over the Broncos.

Anderson would not speculate earlier Monday on how many players would be punished for hits from the past Sunday's games. Players also can be ejected from games for illegal hits, but that's rare.
