I agree completely. It would have been incredible to win it all in their first year, but alas they did not. Why? A few reasons:

1. Lack of a bench . . . need 2 more key additions on the bench
2. The disappearance of Lebron . . . he needs to work on his skills off the ball to be a complete player
3. Playoff experience

With all three, I definitely see a 2 or 3-peat in their future

Ah yes....finally someone seeing through the 'I hate Lebron/Heat' crap. I would also include the more experienced coach as well.

Thats what I thought after the 2007 Cavs were swept by the Spurs in the finals.......you never can tell whats going to happen. The East is a tough conference and the HEATLES (hahahha) are going to face a tough road every year.

But the Cavs did not have a few things:

1- NO ONE in the caliber of Wade or Bosh on that roster..not even close.

2- For as well as whomever the GM was, not in the same league as Riley.

Did anyone hear Mark Cuban live on Sportscenter last night say "The Mavs fans punked the sh*t out of the Miami fans?" Too funny....

What if the Heat don't win next year either? Will the worst fans in sports (sans Salsa and Rey.....sorry guys) stop showing up? Will they arrive even later than they do now?

Cuban is lying and full of sh@%! I had some former colleagues not to mention NEW work colleagues - corp skybox - and stated those folks were petrified to show their colors/shirts until they realized, 'OMG, this ain't the ghetto so it's safe....'. They TRIED starting a couple of "lets go Mavs" chants but were immediately drowned out by "lets go Heat" chants. The ONLY time Mavs fans were heard was after the buzzer sounded and most Heat fans were gone.

You think the billionaire owner could express his gratitude to the Mavericks fans without using the words "punked" and "sh*t"? Well, at least he didn't refer to them as his hooligans.

that proves my point even more how much he was lying and full of sh*t.

Did you read the full column by Windy? And I can't believe you're covering for LeBron again. The media was actually rooting FOR LeBron. Did you see/hear how dejected Mark Jackson/Van Gundy were following the game? It sounded as if someone killed their puppy. They were clearly disappointed. LeBron took a cheap shot at the fans. A REAL CHEAP shot......

Interesting.... So when Charles Barkley stated on 790 the ticket, that "I find it funny when someone working at McDonald's, says that I never won a ring... Hey, I am making millions of dollars working on TV and you have to go back and continue making those fries....." Bet you are that same person that would it Charles 'insightfully funny'....

Funny you mentioned that since they all GAVE UP MONEY to sign with Miami. The Heat organization had the room in the cap, they did not steal it, they had the room and did it well within the rules. Dallas, as well as the NBA tried to do the exact same thing.

If you are a Mavs fans, congrats and enjoy it with class.

Nope, I am not a MAVS fan.
I do love Jason Kidd, one of my fave of all time.
I just hate the Miami Heat and their ego and the super corny pre season celebration.

They did not give up lots of money...
Depending what happens this off-season there may not be a big 3 in Miami.

ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY!
3 players took all the cap.....that's why they were left with such an "unreliable" bench.
Miami didn't need a 3rd big 3 to complete that roster. Hell I think if they kept Michael Beasley and added few other players on the bench then I think they might have won the finals. James was non factor.

The difference in these playoffs I think was the point guard play.
Mavs PG's> Miami PG's all day.

Let's address these...did you know that when Miami got Shaq..they also did a big show where they had him come to the AAA in an 18 wheeler in a parade-type atmosphere where he promised at least 1 championship? What is the difference? It was meant FOR Heat fans. What is the 1st thing the championship team says when they address their fans after their big parade?! "...and we promise you we will be back next year....." How is that any different than stating they "want to" build a dynasty? As far as money is concerned, Lebron AND Bosh took less for NOT signing with teams and Wade, who DID sign with his team, took less so that they can resign guys like Jones, Haslim and Miller...but please don't let your rant prevent you from knowing facts.

And finally, what won this series was 2 things....bench and coaching, period. The Mavs had much weapons at his disposal. Also, Carlisle did a great job of when to go zone because man-on-man, Dallas could not match-up. Spolestra did NOT do a great job because it was his job to make adjustments.....and didn't. If you see the PG play, Miami's played just as well as the Mavs.

Then I think we were watching two different games.
None of the Miami PG's played well consistently.
Consistency wins championships.
If you had a good PG then Lebron would not be the one doing the PG play the whole game, Chalmers was not a factor...
When you compare JJ and Kidd, well I'll just leave it at that. I call those two players true PG's. Miami doesn't have a true PG because Chalmers couldn't get it done.
That's the true fact.

You were watching another series. Barea was a non factor until game 4. Kidd was getting torched by Wade until the last game, Wade averaged almost 28 PPG and the main reason they would go a zone. Bibby, I will admit did not do much...but with that said, they BOTH averaged more points and almost as many assist as the Mavs PG. Don't let the emotion of the win overlook the facts.

What does Charles Barkley have to do with the subject at hand?! You're misdirecting again.

Interesting Stat:

In the 10 NBA Championship games LeBron James has played, he's NEVER equaled or exceeded his regular season stats.

You know how they say great players rise to the occasion? That when the game is on the line, the great ones elevate their game? Not LeBron. He's actually quite the opposite. He shrinks. Even if he was the same player as he was during the regular season, not better, but just the same, the Heat probably would've won. But he isn't. LeBron performs WORSE when it matters most. That is a fact.

Lack of playoff experience, my butt. Celtics won a title the first year that Pierce, Allen and KG were together.

No bench, huh? I thought Pat Reilly was a gansta? Obviously not. Wade put the team together and slickback added garbage.

On a side note, I'd like to tell Lebron that my life is going pretty good and I am very happy, so he can go back to his mansion with his bastard children and not worry about the rest of us, most of us are not self absorbed douche bags like him. And Cleveland fans, you need to take some responsibility in this you created the I'm better than you attitude in Lebron.

The governor of Ohio has now weighed in on the Maverick's performance in the Finals:

In a declaration laden with veiled jabs at NBA all star LeBron James, Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Monday declared the Dallas Mavericks honorary Ohioans.

The move came less than 24 hours after the Mavericks defeated James and the Miami Heat in game six of the NBA Finals to win their first ever NBA championship.

"Whereas, NBA Finals [MVP] Dirk Nowitzki chose to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks in the summer of 2010, forgoing free agency and keeping his talents in Dallas, remaining loyal to the team, city and fans for whom he played his entire career," the declaration reads in part.
