2010-11 NBA PLAYOFFS

Monday's Playoff Schedule

Philadelphia at Miami- 7:00pm ET (TNT)- Heat lead series 1-0

Indiana at Chicago- 9:30pm ET (TNT)- Bulls lead series 1-0

Quick thoughts from the first weekend:

1. Russell Westbrook is an absolute blur. How this guy was such a non-factor at UCLA is beyond me.

2. Did Ginobli play game 1?

3. Miami looked a little better in their late game half court offenses than they looked most of the regular season.

4. Amare' is on fire, but he doesn't touch the ball in the last 2-3 minutes of the game?

5. The white-out in Miami looked VERY cool

6. The blue-out in Oklahoma City? When the other team is wearing blue? Huh?

7. The rain here on Saturday was unbeleivable. I couldn't hear the announcers in the early evening games, because it sounded like a freight train was going through our backyard

8. I agree the Nuggets are a better team right now than they were before the trade...but teams like this never win anything. They'll win 50 games a year and one playoff series at most year after year.

9. Did Bird-man get MORE ink for the playoffs? Just looks so strange.

10. I saw somebody roll their ankle in one of the games, and I felt a twinge in my ankle. I'm not kididng!

11. Commercials during EVERY timeout? During a few of the games it was play a few seconds...a few commercials...play a few seconds...a few commcercials.

12. I agree with Bill...if the rest of the playoffs are like this we are in for a treat.

13. Nothing like huge basketball games that are NOT played at a neutral site!

14. Even as a Knick fan I never begrudege home team calls in the playoffs. The Celtics worked hard all year for home court advantage, and that's part of it.

15. That said, since the C's rolled over and did not contest second place with the Heat, they have to expect home court calls to be a factor in the next series. And the majority of those calls will benefit Miami. They earned it.

1. Russell Westbrook is an absolute blur. He is one of the most underrated players in the NBA.

2. Did Ginobli play game 1? Nope...and that is why I think they may not get past this round if he he plays very little in this series.

3. Miami looked a little better in their late game half court offenses than they looked most of the regular season. To me, that was big because they went smaller ..something they have done a lot in the last 20 or so games.

5. The white-out in Miami looked VERY cool. They do that during the playoffs. They started this back in 2006 when they won the title.

8. I agree the Nuggets are a better team right now than they were before the trade...but teams like this never win anything. They'll win 50 games a year and one playoff series at most year after year. Unfortunately for Denver, that seems to be the trend. Look at the Hawks in the playoffs the last few years.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the 'White-Out' originated with the Winnipeg Jets back in the 1980's. Numerous teams have since emulated them, including the Phoenix Coyotes (where the team moved from Winnipeg), the Vancouver Canucks, Washington Capitals, Penn State football, and probably a bunch of other basketball and hockey teams I'm forgetting.

Not talking about the origin or who started it 1st... I meant this is when the Miami Heat started doing this.

I'm curious to see how the Heat and Bulls come out of the gate tonight, after their respective game 1 scares.

Game one is usually the best chance to steal a game. It gets more difficult as the series go on. Hopefully there will be exceptions to that!

Well....they were different kids of scares. ONE had the lead the entire game and blew it...the OTHER had a brief lead, then was getting blown out and made a comeback. I am still convinced the Bulls are last two years version of the Cavs of how the team is built.

Just talked to a buddy who attended last night's Knicks-Celtics game. He said there must have been 3,000-4,000 Knicks fans there last night. Pretty impressive that that many were able to score tickets!
