I think that is one of the problems with the NBA is guys like Kobe & LeBron(and many others) have become bigger than the game and the league itself. I wish the NBA was about the teams instead of the superstars. But Stern and the owners have done it to themselves with the way they market the league. Look how the Christmas day game wad presented Kobe vs. LeBron & Wade, not the Heat vs. Lakers, like the other 20 guys were not involved at all. Of course that is going to give these guys the feeling they are bigger than the game.

Excellent post! And don't forget they were pampered BEFORE they came into the league.....99% of all athletes in high school and college. So in reality, this starts earlier than the professional leagues.
Splitting hairs. Debating who the biggest diva is between LeBron and Kobe, is akin to debating who was the smartest kid in summer school!
But to Kobe's credit...and slowly but surely, Lebron... they grow out of it. I think Shaq sort of grew out of it once he was humbled in Phoenix. I think Gilbert Arenas has been humbled as well.

I don't know Bill...to me, Kobe has grown up A LOT. Still says and does silly things on occasion, but right now Lebron James is in a different diva league...than everyone.

Yup. Kobe has proven he has matured with age. Time will tell with Lebron. At this point he's still the main Diva.
Maturing with age is not a given...see Manny Ramirez, Brett Favre, etc.

Well, Kobe almost landing himself in jail could have been criminal, yes, but I would not consider it diva-like. Everything that is bad does not fall into the category of diva. Two different things.
Right now NOBODY in the league approaches the level of Lebron's self-absorbtion. And as I said, many athletes mature with age, but Manny Ramirez and Brett Favre are examples of two who did not.
As I already said, time will tell with Lebron.

what i want to know is what does being a diva have to do with basketball? should any of us really care? honestly i could care less if he's a diva, if he's a bi**h or an a-hole. i just want to see him and every other skilled player in basketball, play. thats it. as long as he's not a criminal or anything similar to that then who the hell cares???? or who should care?
LOL that came from a joke I made earlier in the thread, after someone insinuated about Lebron and HGH usage (I think that person was joking too), that I read that signs of diva-like behavior are self-absorbtion, sensitivity to criticism, calling something retarded, etc. It was just a joke about Lebron...that of course cannot be laughed off around here.
And in typical Satellite Guys fashion, it morphs into a debate where first we argue that Lebron is not the only diva, then we say that Lebron IS the biggest diva but it's only because he's not as old as some of the lesser divas (which YOU contributed to, my Dos Equis friend!)...and it will go on and on into six more circular debates as well.
All over a joke the that two divas of the forum cannot let go of.
Hey Rey, want to take this opportunity to wish you and your Heat well. I will be in Paris and St Tropez the next two weeks, and even though some might disagree, Lebron will NOT be the biggest topic of conversation over there among the French!
Enjoy the series, my friend, when I hear that the Heat won I will smile and think of you...for about a second...it is my honeymoon after all!!!

Ah, springtime in Paris! We were there in May a few years ago. What a wonderful city to walk in and just marvel at everything you see. Try to get out of the hotel room for a few hours every day. The most dangerous thing you can do in Paris is take the taxi from the airport.
