2009 NFL Draft Countdown

Heavy rumor out of Oakland is that the Raiders will PASS on BOTH Maklin AND Crabtree and select.....

Darrius Heyward-Bey out of Maryland.....

hmmmm.....I have heard great things about this guy. Had THE BEST times in the 40 and was a stud WR, but at Maryland....??!!

Gonna do so a little search around the 'net on this guy before I make a comment....

...be back in a few...

Good 40 times do not make a great WR.

OK, so Calvin Johnson is working out well, but not everyone with a great 40 time is an NFL star.

IMO, the Raiders MUST choose Crabtree or Maclin.

IMO, I'd go with Maclin- his ability to return punts could make him a new generation version of Tim Brown.

Well.....I see why the Raiders have laid off the Crabtree talk because there is alot of talk about his ankle not being as strong as what it was before the operations...and if I am not mistaken, he didn't help his cause by NOT doing the combines or do private workout session....so I have heard. I saw and read a few things about this Heyward-Bay kid and he looks REAL GOOD. I like Maclin ALOT....and like I said, Crabtree's ankle operations scares the crap out of me.

EDIT: Just read this today....

04/23/2009 - Reuter's five predictions: Oakland selects Darrius Heyward-Bey at No. 7...Jeremy Maclin is the consensus mock draft choice for the Raiders, if they pick a receiver, because he is the explosive receiver owner Al Davis covets. However, Darrius Heyward-Bey's superior size, 40 times and ability to fight for the ball in the air will make him the pick. DHB's inconsistent hands are a concern, but Maclin's limited route-running in Missouri's offense is also a concern for scouts who wonder if he will ever be more than a special-teams contributor. - Chad Reuter, The SportsXchange, NFLDraftScout.com

The Browns just traded their pick to the Jets.

I think this phrase by Ren from Ren and Stimpy can best describe what Mangini may have just done from my perspective- "You idiot!"

I love it guys!!!

We needed a LB for our 3-4 defense. Aaron Curry was selected at #4, just before us. Everyone has my boy Rey Maulaga (USC) a lot lower on the draft board. Now, we can potentially still get Rey at #17! Here's the details of the trade....

Jets get Browns #5

Browns get Jets #17 in the first round, Jets 2nd Rd pick and add depth with DE Kenyon Coleman, DB Abram Elam and QB Brett Ratliff.

Much better value than anybody currently available at 5. Plus, Quinn stays in Cleveland...which is the right move!

YES!!!!!!

Woah! You were right Salsa. I'm shocked with this pick! There were at least 3 WR's ranked ahead of him!

After reading this, I have to agree.

When I first heard about the trade, I thought, "Uh-oh. What is going on?"

But after hearing your perspective, I think it was good.

I just thought that Cleveland and the Jets making the trade struck me as odd, given the ties between Mangini and the teams.

Crabtree could go to Green Bay at #9- he's still on the board and the Packers pick after the Jags.

Pairing him with Rodgers and Jennings- that's a scary possibility.

lol at all these millions Crabtree is losing for having a crappy attitude. Had such a horrible response when Deion was interviewing him too 'well those teams dont want me, i look forward to playing them' and was kinda pissy.

And the 49ers select Crabtree.

I don't think this is the right fit for him- who on Earth will get him the ball? I don't trust Hill and Smith.

If you ask me, Green Bay should have taken him.

Random thoughts at the start of May
