Schilling Open To D'Backs

By Tim Dierkes

Last week, we learned that Curt Schilling would be open to returning to the Phillies midseason if he pitches next year. GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said he hadn't even considered the possibility yet.
Also last week, Schilling was asked about returning to the Diamondbacks. He likes that idea as well. The D'Backs could probably fit him in. It'll be even cooler if he's reunited with Randy Johnson.

Rumored talks between Hoffman and the Tigers. He would fit into their plans of signing somebody as a "stop-gap", before somebody from the farm system is ready.

I don't see Schilling/Johnson back together. To be honest, they both are not the same pitchers that they once were. The D-Backs need to get younger and build around Brandon Webb for pitching. Webb is young and they need young guys right now.

Whats wrong with Joe Nathan, isn't he still with them ?

Jimbo

Yes, Nathan is still with the Twins.

Which probably means that the Twins are interested in Street as their setup guy to replace Neshek.

I'm pretty sure that Street wouldn't be too enamored with that scenario.

Mets,
I definitely agree.

Perhaps if Johnson leaves, the D-Backs might be willing to take a flyer on Schilling as a midseason signing?

Gee, I hope Schilling does not go the Phillies. He' s much too old. Everybody knows when you get that old you can't pitch anymore..Just look how poorly Jamie Moyer did not to mention that Nolan Ryan guy a few years back. (joking)

Who knows at this point? I've heard the Yankees are willing to pay Sabathia more than Santana who got a fortune. The Yankees have so much dough to spend, it's obscene.

Saw this on ESPN earlier:

Angels giving up on re-signing Rodreguiz, may go after MANNY

Calling KCK_Halo, calling KCK_Halo, are you there ????

According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox "have inquired with agent Scott Boras about" Derek Lowe.
Lowe has indicated previously that he'd like to return to Boston, so if the Red Sox show significant interest it's seemingly a natural fit. The newspaper calls Lowe "among the most probable targets for the Red Sox" and suggests a deal worth $15 million per season.

I think he nay have passed out from the shock.

Better send him another beer :D

Jimbo

I saw that earlier on ESPN, guys. I am in shock if it is indeed true. There is no room for him and Tex $$ wise on the same team. And if they get him, that means Big Daddy Vlady walks next year...if they don't trade him!!!!

I reserve judgement until more information becomes available. Thanks for your concerns.
