2 Hopper with Sling Install

So, the installer hooked up my system today 2 Hopper with Sling no joeys.
Both hoppers are connected to my network via wifi.
The issue that I have is that I cannot view DVR recordings from the other Hopper.
When I go to Network Setup, Wireless is selected and MoCA is grey.
I believe that MoCA needs to be setup and bridging one of the network connections and the other connection needs to be deleted in order for me to view DVR recordings from the other Hopper.
The software version is S302.
Thoughts?

How about pressing YELLOW, go to diagnostics, then system status on both receivers. In the MoCA section, are there four green bars on both receivers?

There were no isolators, just the duo node and no terminators on the client ports.
I cannot get to the System Info part of the Diagnostics during PrimeTime Anytime, so I will have to check on that after the timer completes.
When I go to Network Setup -> Whole Home, it lists the other Hopper as a Detected Device.

Bridging does not need to be enabled to see the other Hoppers DVR events. I would reboot the Hoppers later, if that doesn't fix it then I would give it the nightly update and if no change by tomorrow then you may want to get a tech back out.

In the MoCA section, there are four bars, but they are not green, the left bar is white, then grey, darker grey, and darker grey.
I'm pretty sure that this indicates that MoCA is turned off.
 
You are wireless ... so you have to go through the wireless menus to switch which DVR you see.

I have read this works for the Joey's that are connected wireless. Not sure if this works for the Hoppers though.
 
Something isn't functioning correctly and to me it doesn't sound like a setting issue, it sounds like something that may be defective or malfunctioning. I would get a tech back out if I was in your shoes.
 
I contacted the installer. They are going to try installing a HIC and see if that works. It's ordered for Monday 1/28. Doesn't make any sense to me. Both Hoppers have the capability to be wireless or ethernet connected, but something is needed to get the MoCA network going.

Well since they are both connected to the same duo node they should see each other. Did you try disconnecting both of them from the Internet and then check if the other Hopper appears in the My Recordings page? Maybe it has something to do with the Internet killing the moca and you could test it by doing this.You could also try swapping host ports on the node and maybe the disconnecting of the coax/moca lines and the reconnecting will help. I personally think this has something to do with the node or the dual Internet stopping moca communication. It could be sw related but I can't test that because I have one original and one new Hopper but both have direct lines from the router and bridging enabled on the HWS to share the IP with my Joey and everything here woks correctly.

If you haven't already, you could also try turning wifi off on one receiver and enable bridging on the other with the wifi connection and see if they see each other after the Hopper automatically reconfigures the network after you enable bridging.

Just got off the phone with tech support. It's a known issue. Two Hoppers with Sling will not communicate with each other unless you add either a Hopper without Sling or a Joey.
Anyway, I am happy to have two hoppers with sling.

Since I have the same setup and issue I called in to tech support and they scheduled a tech to come out tomorrow. Should I cancel that appointment? Does Dish anticipate this being fixed in a software update?

Software Update most likely. I am going to test the HIC theory on Monday. If you are willing to have a joey in the system, that would be a $7/month fix. I thought about buying a Joey and activating it to get MoCA working then disconnecting, but I'm not sure that Dish would like doing that as a workaround.

I'm not sure if it would continue to function normally after the joey is disconnected from the node/install. I doubt it has anything to do with the Dish CSR system or interface but something with SW and the client not being in the mix.

I disconnected the Ethernet from both and now the "other" Hopper does not show up under Settings-Network-Whole Home. So without being connected to the home network, the individual Hoppers do not see each other at all. I say this is clearly a MoCa issue. (Especially since it shows up grey).

Do you think Dish would allow for an active Joey for Free until the issue is resolved? Then turn it off. Mine are all purchased.

I doubt it but you could always ask. To get another box issued I would assume their system would require an upgrade or it be purchased. This is a big issue but at the same time everything else still functions like it's supposed to so I don't think they would give out another joey. I've never seen anything like that happen before.
 
Fixed. The solution for now is the HIC. It's available for $39.99 from Amazon.com. Now, the HIC starts the MoCA network and the two Hoppers with Sling can see the DVR recordings of each other. It may be cheaper elsewhere. If dish is doing the install, it's one of the free parts that they probably won't give you unless you ask for it. I connected mine using a tap so that way I could have it right next to the Hopper where I have an ethernet jack.

Sorry ... what is "HIC"?
It's a device called the Hopper Internet Connector (HIC) that connects to the network (ethernet) and connects to the COAX MoCA network. It provides a network connection for all Hoppers and Joeys connected to the Solo/Duo Node.
