I currently have one 18" dish pointed at 110* and one at 119*.
However, I want to get some programming that is only on 121* but in order to get that bird I need to use a 30" dish. Anything I should know about adding this to the mix ? Will a 301 receiver handle both types ?

yes
you will need a 30" dish and a KU band LNBF

do you have 2 dishes right now combines with a SW21? This is the confusign part...you say one 18" dish but then you say "one at 110 and one at 119"

Thanks for your fast reply.
Yes, two seperate dishes running through a SW21. I assume that the 30" will have to go through a SW21+ and then through the SW21.

So as long as I have the 30" dish and appropriate LNB I'll be able to simply add it to the receiver ?

Thanks

You are not the SatelliteGuys.US administrator, Scott is. And it will work fine.

Why not get a 121 superdish instead? I got it free when I ordered GermanTV. There was a 1 year commitment. It includes a DP34 switch which gets 110, 119 and 121. You won't need your two 18" dishes anymore (unless you want 4 satellites later be that would require a DP+44 and DP series LNB).

But if you want to buy a 30" dish you'll need a FSS type LNB and I'm not sure if it works well with legacy series LNBs.

The LNB's are Legacy for FSS (unless its a Superdish)

main reason I did the 30" and FSS LNB instead of a Superdish...no contract!!

Couple other reasons
-again, no contract
-what if you have a Legacy receiver? SD doesnt work unless you have the adapter
-LOS issues

So the FSS comes in legacy and DP, that's good to know.
No contract required sounds good - but weight the cost of equipment to one year of a foreign channel or local. In my case German TV cost $109 annually and superdish would cost me $240 if I cancelled my commitment.
Line of Sight - hopefully there might be a sweet spot for a superdish but who knows.
Adding a fourth satellite - this could cost some bucks because of the DP+44 and DP series LNB. Fortunately for me I took the $100 "second dish install deal" which I felt was rather affordable.

The normal LNB's are Legacy...the only DishPro one is what the SD has
If you have an old Primestar Dish around, those work too :)

With the OP's unique setup (two dishes for 110 & 119) there might be a LOS issue

I did the 30" setup because at the time Duluth, MN locals were going to be on 105 SD, but I didnt have a basic package (AT60 or above). To get the SD promo, AT60 or above is required :)

Does the 721 have a 16:9 option?
