16:9 SD output for TV2 error

I stumbled upon the same conclusion as described here, that if the receiver is in single/shared, the TV2 output would be an anamorhpic widescreen image. This worked exactly how I wanted for TV2. However, I'm not sure exactly what I did, but somehow the TV2 output seemed to revert to a 4:3 output, but had all the format options of the widescreen (zoom, etc.), but the image was clearly cropped, such that "normal" was a stretched image. I had to use the mode switch to flip to dual then back to single to get my TV2 output to work correctly. Has anyone else seen this behavior? I have a 722.
