My dish installer came today and told me that the strongest signal for 129 that I could get was about 75. He said that 129 sits over top of Mexico and because we are in the East Coast (Georgia) that I wouldn't get much more than that? Is this right? This 622 has been alot of trouble to get installed and working properly!

Thanks

75 signal strength in GA is not bad at all..... There are a lot of Atlanta people that seem to get worse than that....

I live in Atlanta and using a Dish 500 my 129 signal strength ranges from 80 to the high 90s on a 622 receiver.

70 is better than I am getting on a Dish 1000 (I get 55-60). Because of the low signal strength it cuts out in heavy clouds and rain, and also when it cuts out it messes up the 622 and wants you to do "check switch". I am going to do a separate dish for it but haven't had the time. The Dish 1000's just aren't great for GA and 129 location.

Maybe wait and give the new 1000.2 a shot, when they come out. This way you can stay with one dish, if they are really making a difference. That's what I am waiting for too. I don't really wanna be the first one to try though, if it turns out, that you actually only gain a couple of points. Then it isn't worth it.

If I swing my 61.5 dish to 129, will I have much less chance of drop outs than getting a 1000?

A separate dish for 129 can provide a more reliable signal, but if you already have a dish looking at 61.5 you don't need a dish 1000, unless you want your HD-Locals on 129. I'm using a Dish 1000 for 110/119 and a Dish 500 for 129 because of the poor 129 signal in the Pacific NW.

Hey NightRyder, I just moved to Montana and I am only getting high 50s to 60 (max) on the 129. 110 and 119 aren't much better (70s). What are you getting with the 129 (realizing you have a seperate dish for it)?

Thanks in advance.:)

Hi oswald: I'm getting upper 60's to low 80's on 129. My 119/110 are all 85 and up.

Yeah, the Minneapolis/ St. Paul HD locals are 129. That's the only reason why I'd swing it over.

That's what I did... Get mid to upper 80's on all transponders. Having a seperate dish is definitely better than a dish 1000:D

Can you use a Dish 500 aimed for 61.5 for most of the HD & use a 1000 for the other three SATS?

I was told by my installer I had to buy a Dish 1000 when I gat a VIP 622 giving up my excellent signal from 61.5 ( high 90's), The 1000 peaks at 66 here in Sacramento CA. Come fall when our rainy season starts I will get nothing unless I change the system.

You can have the best HD network avaiable but it is worthless if you cannot get a decent signal. To my way of thinking Dish better come up with something soon or worry about a lot more than a TIVO litigation. Almost no one get a good signal with this set up in winter weather.
