I currently have 3 seperate dishes set up on my roof pointing at: 61.5, 119, & 110. I am not sure what the switch is, I would have to look. I am trying to upgrade a receiver with Dish to a new HD DVR. With the upgrade, they are supposed to send somebody out to install a new dish to point at 129 to get all of the HD content.

Well, this started 2 months ago, & each time anyone comes out they will not install it because of the steepness of my roof. Actually, they have sent the same person each time even though I have explained the situation. The installer offered to do it on the side for $250 or put one in front for an extra $200. That is not an option & right now I would just like to install it myself & get it done.

I will have 4 receivers hooked up. Can anyone tell me what type of switch i would need to hook up all 4 dishes? I thought I could dump 61.5 but now I hear the ATL locals are going back to there. Also, will a standard dish work to point at 129 or do you need something bigger?

Do I actually need 129 for HD programming or do they have that on 61.5?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

61.5 is just as good as 129. as long as the 110,119 & 61.5 are tide in together you don't need the 129. to find out if they are tide together run a check switch test. ( Press menu, 6,1,1) run that test and that will tell you witch orbit is connected.

61.5...

has to be a better option than the 129, if your regional sports network isn't on 129. I believe everything else HD is mirrored on both sats.

thx

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. It sounds like I do not even need the 129. I can live without the local sports channel.

I just got off the phone with an account specialist who is much more friendly & knowledgeable than the regular support. She said the 129 is hard to get good signal strength in atlanta.

I will also need a new switch & they still need to send an installer to install the new switch (sw-44). I would be very happy if they would just send the dvr's and let me do it but I guess that will not work.

Right now, I have an old JVC receiver, a 510 DVR, an 811 HD, and a 5000. The 811 HD is being replaced with a 612 & I am adding a 622. I am killing the JVC & the 5000.

My basement was flooded & seeled off (long story) so I have not been down there to watch any tv lately which is where my HD receiver & projector is. I will go down there & check the switch.

Basically since you are upgrading receivers to 612,622 and having a Switch installed it's just better for them to send out a tech and have them start fresh. No headache for you just an upgrade fee
