I was explaining to my wife about that scalar ring and that is exactly the same analogy I used. She didn't care about DEVO or the scalar ring, but that's her problem :)

Women are funny like that.

BLSA? .. Broke Looser Spectrum Analizer? sounds like me, where do I find some more info on these ;)

EDIT: nevermind, found it.. looks interesting :D

I love mine. It is by far the coolest toy I have :)

Messing with a Tri-LNB setup

Even with the C-band LNB offset to one side I'm still getting a fairly good signal from Anik, I still think the arm needs to be extended for focal distance which is why the aluminium strip isn't cut down yet.
Nothing's really tweaked and I don't think I'll be taking down my Invacom until I find a cheap motor for the Winegard.
Weather permitting I'll take the other 2 Ku LNBs off and try to find the proper focal point for the C-band.

WOW thats a crazy sweet setup cascade
to bad they dont make a c/ku/linear/cirular all in one lnb

Sadoun will have a C/Ku LNB for me to try soon, I can't wait to try it out.
The DBS LNB is a temporary new addition, it'll be coming off if can get some better results and the Invacom may be taking its place.
Looks like the weather's holding up today, time to break out the Dremel and get cutting.

More pics later :)

Amc1

Took the other 2 LNBs off and made this the primary, still need to work on the scalar ring.
AMC1 doesn't come in too bad.

Hey Cascasde,

Very cool setup. I've been following your's and PSB's experiments with great interest. I just put up a motorized Primestar dish over the weekend, and am getting similar digital results to your's with Anik, a couple religious channels on G11 digitally along with a lot of analog stuff from all over the arc. It looks like you've been doing much of your testing with Anik F1, I was wondering what other satellites you've been able to get a decent digital signal on.

Thanks,
Mike

Anik was the strongest by far up til now, G10R gave me nice results too.
I'm concentrating more on AMC1 and 4 today.
AMC1 isn't too bad at all, I'm breaking out the Dremel again in a few to see if I can't sort this scalar ring out.
Ideally I want G3, it's eluding me so far.

Anyone know where I can buy one of these?

Chaparral makes them. I'll look around for ya. You really need one for the offset feed, the normal scalar just doesn't funnel the cloud of RF into the waveguide as efficently off of the prime focus feed.

Have you guys managed to get the analog backhauls on AMC3, IA6, G3C and IA5 with your 120cm? I am more interested in the sport backhauls (NBA, college football and soccer) than DVB contents. This would be the primary reason for me to try out my 120cm on these 4 birds.

I just want to get a heads up on what to expect when I actually try it out...

CASCADE this is the contact in english

check your mail doesnt let me post the urls ... john
