I better get the funds for my 1.2m dish soon :p
I'm going nuts with all the MicroBUD goodness getting tossed around, and this C-band lnb on my desk has been gving me the evil eye lately....

Question on interference by adjacent C-band satellites:

Supposed I am interested in the Alaskan Mux on AMC7 (137W), which is on 3880H, MPEG2/DVB.

The two adjacent satellites, AMC8 at 139W does not have a 3880 transponder. The other satellite, AMC10 at 135W has a 3880 transponder, but of Vertical polarity. Besides, it's an analog channel.

So would there be interference? even though the same frequency on adjacent satellites are of different polarities? different formats?

rayydio, Super input guy !!!!! The cone looks nearly identical to the one Id built and sent to Casade for testing ! Could u compare the ring depth and ring dia. to a flat ASC 421 scaler ? Plese post comparisons. Im begining to think that Cascade will have some positive results with the cone Id sent him. Ive been doing more machine work with my lathe, trying at cone to falt scaler conversion unit. Thanks guys, Super !!!!!

oh yea,.. ASN is apparently a CTV project..

That works.. I will get an old Viacast reciever, and a mini-bud ;)

ASN is an overflow channel for ATV, which is the CTV affiliate in the Maritimes.
Sometimes they have a CTV show on BOTH ATV & ASN...ASN is satellite/cable only...no OTA channel :)

(the below is a little outdated...late last year but it still works here

ASN acts a bit like a supplementary service of ATV, and a bit like a NewNet station. It does broadcast a fair amount of CHUM programming (e.g. Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CityLine, FashionTelevision), most likely because CHUM was ASN's previous owner. It also broadcasts overflow CTV programming that might not air on ATV for various reasons (e.g. Vicki Gabereau, Canadian Idol [which eventually found its way onto the ATV schedule]). ASN also simulcasts with ATV when ATV airs CTV News specials

Also getting the Leno show there! (seems to have a 15 min. delay) It was great last night all the local channels here were covering the BIG storm we had so I changed channel and got to see the Leno Show : )

Hopefully the cone-scalar will arrive today :)

ASN and NewsWorld International are definitely up there with TheTube in my list of fav programming.

Anik was the first cband sat i hit, i was able to manually point my dish at it even before i hooked up the actuator. I quickly grew to appreciate ASN and Newsworld, they (and the tube of course) are def. at the top of my FTA channels. Now if i could just figure out when asn shows the sopranos i would be set :-D

Sopranos are not on CTV right now

Also, that Live8 concert will be on ASN starting Saturday at 1AM Eastern and running all day

thanks for letting me know that iceberg, when did ctv drop them? i used to watch that show OTA on CTV, but the channel is very "snowy", so i quit watching it.

the older shows were on recently, but I guess the season is done. I checked the guide online at StarChoice and the only Sopranos shows are on M! (premium channel)

bummer, one of the few weekly shows i liked to watch. thanks again iceberg.

Here's the new mount all ready for the 120cm dish.
This'll make it a lot easier to tune for elevation and true south.
It's a bit shabby but I won't have anymore stripped U-bolt threads :)

Cascade,
I just recently stripped the u-bolt threads on my sg2100 mount too. My old primestar dish mount with a few adjustments should eliminate the need for u-bolts to secure my motor to the pole. Never would have thought of that. Thanks for the idea!
