Hello, Ive got a SWM5 setup working with dishnet using diplexors, but only seem to be having a problem on one of my boxes, transponers are as follows

101

100 96 96 96 0 0 0 96
96 96 96 96 95 98 99 99
98 98 98 0 0 98 99 99
0 0 99 98 98 98 98 98

and to factor out counting for some people 0s are on xpndrs 5,6,7, 20,21, 25,26

Im thinking this is not the product of a short, but have no idea, and yes ive tried riping the diplex out temporarily problem remains, can anyone identify what is coming over on those xpndrs, and more importantly what may be causing this problem. 101 sat only, and 1 room only. USA seems to pixelate frequently, and the box is a d12-100 running CE 1188 (6/5)

Exactly what dish do you have? The reference to "dishnet" has me wondering.
On 101 TPs 4, 12, 18, 20, 26, and 28 are spotbeams. This explains a couple of your 0 values.

Slim5 swm lnb, and i mean i have it diplexed with dish network tuner 2 lines in some areas of the house. Im a tech with access to a birdog and the signal strength is fine, the only spotbeams are on 20 and 26 then, but i never really completely understood how spot beams worked in the first place. the 99/103 are both fine on the 2 hd boxes, and as i said this is the only receiver giving me problems, any other ideas?

Another odd thing here is that the line feeding the d12 is actually split using a power pass (2-2150) (official swm switch) and the second receiver is working fine off that line, i tried swapping the lines to see if its the port, and no changes, im thinking its something in the receiver, i might grab one off my truck to test the xpnders, any idea before i open a new (refurb) box just to test this?

Edit#2,

I believe i fixed the issue, still one thing bothering me though, I was a bad tech and didnt check the barrels in my wallplates, had a gold plated white one, so i just ripped the plate off and threw a blue barrel in, xpndrs instantly lite up correctly, however, random xpndrs will randomly have extremely low signals, like 30s and 40s now. Somethings going on, gonna try and run a extremely long line from my room down to the basement quick and connect it directly to the 1x4. See what that does.

I'd start by connecting the problem receiver directly to the dish.
Remove splitters and diplexers.

Is the D12 receiver capable of using the SWM dish?

Be very careful where you put the diplexers. The KaKu bands don't play well.

yes a d12 is actually required for SWM nothing lower works, and Im gonna re run most of the wire tomorrow, its late now and im tired, i havnt seen any pixelation at all since changing out the barrel, but the xponders are severely low at random times. it might be the wire, im gonna test that next, as i said, its just this room.

I tried to use diplexers with my SWM5 and it wouldn't work correctly either even though the meters said the signal level was okay. There needs to be communication at around 2-2.5 Mhz and the 950-2150 bands at the same time. The diplexers usually block the 2.5 Mhz communication on the sat feed and it causes issues.

i changed my barrel and it seems to be fine, recording some hd stuff right now, im running new wiring where i can though, are your diplexers these ??

Holland STVC Satellite Diplexer - STVC

just make sure they pass the lower freq, the 5 seems to be working fine, as i remember we had dual power pass splitters that were 5-2300 and were told to use them for a while, the next month the sticker was changed to 2-2300 lol.

I also just found this, not sure if i want to invest to try it or not

Sonora Active Diplexer for DirecTV SWM - AD14

I used the Holland DPD2 diplexer that are rated at 2 amps. Anything lower can burn up if you are trying to power a SWM and LNBs on the same line.

That 5-2300 frequency rating means that the UHF/VHF port passes 5-806 Mhz and the satellite port passes 950-2300 Mhz. That 2.3 Mhz signal that the SWM needs to communicate with the receiver gets blocked from the satellite port and causes issues.

That active diplexer you listed works with a SWM LNB which is different that what you have.

I would just run an extra cable and leave the Directv cable alone. That's what I did after a lot of wasted hours trying every kind of diplexer/splitter I could find.

There is one diplexer I heard may work but I never found a source for them. You should do a search for NAS diplexer. Find the one that passes 2.3 Mhz on the sat port.

Actually I do have the Swm lnb. and I found a link to this...

Im gonna rerun the wiring to my living room and just drop 4 lines, 2 for dishnet, 1 for swm, and 1 for dishnet backfeed into the basement to get rid of one set of diplexers, the whole thing sorta works, but not as well as id like it, seems more trouble than its worth. the room upstairs is whats gonna be hard, I might be able to pull the wiring through, its 2 stories, and the wall is open, but theres a pvc pipe under where the wire comes out.... so idk what to do about that yet. im trying to avoid drilling and running it in from outside, but it may be worth it, ill post pics sometime...
