Is there any way to improve 103 and 99? I ran a system test and still get your dish needs to be aligned, diagnostic code 43-72-478. I know one of those is because a phone line is not connected.

I love my HR24-500. I called Directv to order a new remote and the customer service rep told me I had a free upgrade. I said ok, what is it? A free HD DVR, all I had to do was pay $19.99 for shipping. Super fast! This is my first HD DVR and it is totally awesome!!!!

I was wondering what the USB ports are for on my HR24-500? Can I plug an external hard drive into the USB ports? I know there is a sata connection there for an external hard drive. I already have an external USB hard drive and just wanted to make sure it would work. :confused: Thanks!

Yes, the installer put the HR24 in but he did not check the signals. He saw there was a picture and said everything looked good. What is dithering? I called Directv and told them my signals were too low. They are sending somebody to peak the dish. Can they do this without coming in the house...

The HD dish was installed two years ago, I had an H20 before I got the HR24 installed. Do they need re-peak the dish after installing a new receiver? Do the dishes need re-peaking over time?

Thanks for the info. I did install a dish network system before, I'll give it a shot. I bet the installer knocked the dish out of alignment when connecting the other coax line for the DVR.

OK, thanks guys! The installer put the same exact adapter I had on my H20. Is that the correct adapters to use on the HR24? I have one adapter connected on each coax line. How can I tell if these are the correct BBC adapters? What would be the part#, Model# etc...

Thanks! I do have two coax cables running from the LNB's. I have adapters connected to both incoming coax cables. I was told the new HR24 HD DVR receivers have the BBC's built in by Directv tech support.
