    Fan Duel/Bally PQ

I stand corrected, shows just how poor their operations are that a name change and on-air graphics change would disrupt their transmissions, when there is no change to carriage agreements or how they deliver their content. Diamond Sports need to go away sooner than later, but somehow they keep...

    Fan Duel/Bally PQ

Assuming you are a steam customer based on the post. If it was an issue in the DirecTV app you could try downloading the FanDuel Sports app and login with your DirecTV Stream login to see if it works coming from their server. If your experience is the same it is likely the feed and no further...

    Am21 and HS17

That's awesome that you were able to use it on the HS17, that's only the second report I've seen of this since they updated the software. Also pretty cool that you found a new unused AM21 - most of those are pushing 12-15 years old at this point, I think mine are from 2008.

Whoa! $200 install fee for new satellite customers

I think this may be the case and the website had an issue for a while. I tried a pretend order tonight and there was no install fee. Could change and add one if someone has bad credit after they submit their info, but it is no longer applying a $200 fee to everyone in the cart. Glad to see...

Whoa! $200 install fee for new satellite customers

I guess it’s the end of an era, website now shows an install fee for new customers on satellite - a $200 fee. Crazy, I guess they want you to stream or pay full-fare. Satellite new customers promo is also $5 higher than the stream via internet new customer price.

DTV and Dish Network Discuss Merger Talks Again

I think this is a good assessment of how the FTC would look at this. The TV landscape has change, no concern of consumer issue in DirecTV and Dish merging or an acquisition. Mobile, on the other hand, T-Mobile couldn’t acquire Boost as part of the Spring acquisition due to anti-consumer...

    DIRECTV Stream Prices going up

This is terrible management. If someone makes the call to delay the planned price increase until you can get the Disney deal done, any announced increase will be accepted as "expected" and customers blame Disney. By doing this right at the start of the blackout, they appear greedy and...

    Disney/ESPN & DIRECTV Reach Deal

For anyone specifically after ESPN & ESPN2, Sling Orange is $20 for the first month, $40 after, DVR option is free for the first month as well (normally $5). Not a bad option for the live sports especially as supplemental if the dispute only goes a short time.

    DirecTV Genie Redesigned Menus

I think that is a very positive change that they are now discounting for users that don't need locals via satellite and investing in better support of locals via antenna, something they have not done in many years. LCC (or AM21) on the Genie 2 was something I never thought we would see.

    Directv costs

You won't have much leverage if you have existing discounts or until that 10 months of contract passes. You could tell them you are thinking of cancelling, the cancellation fee is $200, see if they offer a deal to make it worth not paying the $200, tell them you are looking at Dish and it is...

DirecTV Stream and via Internet dropping 30 episode limit on Cloud DVR

Report here that DirecTV is dropping the 30 episode limit for Cloud DVR, for Stream and via Internet, except grandfathered accounts with 20 hour DVR limit. https://thedesk.net/news/directv-stream-cloud-dvr-unlimited-internet/

Directv moving A&E Nets out of Entertainment Package for current subs

Yeah this is an interesting strategy, they did it with Nick Jr. a few years ago. You have to opt-in by the deadline to keep your stations if desired. Unlike grandfathering, buy doing it this way they can drop a big group that does not opt-in. Likely kick starts some savings toward the more...

DirecTV allows subs to drop locals

I was thinking back to when Dish did not provide guide data if you dropped their locals, despite that they had it in their system. I think they changed that over the years and now provide guide data for using DVR on locals. I'd expect DirecTV does the same and allows the guide data for DVR...

DirecTV allows subs to drop locals

Very interesting transition, Dish has done this for years, same savings - $12/month. The real key question will be if anyone that removes locals will receive guide data for the OTA locals using an LCC or AM21. I can't recall how DirecTV handled that, as they do have a few markets without...

Glad to hear it all worked out and that they did waive the ETF to switch to stream.

    D11 outage 2/27/2024 (Resolved on 2/28)

As the satellites age this will get interesting, they do not plan to add further replacements. The closer we get to 2030 they may have to make decisions to remove channels from the platform. Losing spot beams would make tough calls on local markets.

    D11 outage 2/27/2024 (Resolved on 2/28)

Glad to see they have it back online, will be interesting to see if the lost three transponders or if they can further recover.

    D11 outage 2/27/2024 (Resolved on 2/28)

Satellite positioning = not good. Hopefully they can regain control and regain positioning. I had hope that DirecTV was still relying on someone at AT&T to perform their software updates and we would just have a short outage like the nationwide cellular network did last week.

Converting from "via Satellite" to "via Internet"

If you didn't bring up the ETF, and he didn't bring up the ETF, you will probably get a bill for the ETF. I'd call back and say cancel service again and talk to that department to see what they can do. The fact that you are moving and would like to use internet instead of them having to...

    DTV Stream

If HS17 Genie 2, don't do this as MAC address must be registered. 2- Yes or it will deactivate at 30 days 3 - Yes, just login and use it as a streaming device if it lets you since the...

Gemini Air - New DirecTV Stream Device

Their new lease model for DirecTV via Internet is still a two year commitment. The only change is extra boxes are $7/month forever instead of $5/month for 12 months then you own them. DirecTV retains ownership so by leasing them they can charge the per-box fee forever. For a customer getting...

Gemini Air - New DirecTV Stream Device

Yeah the lease is worse. Still has the $15 ARS fee, a $7 fee for each Gemini Air (forever, not just for the first year), and have to return the equipment when you leave (or pay $120 fee, versus owning it and not having to send it back). They're a simple Android TV dongle, retails all the time...
