AT&T is launching a $15 TV streaming subscriptionIf I read correctly yes
I don't see that happening.i wonder if this new seperate service is meant to be AT&T's new streaming service for if DirecTV is forced to be spun off of AT&T to get the AT&T/Time Warner merger to go through.
yeah, but the Government may force a ultimatum between them to approve the merger, either spin off DirecTV from AT&T or spin off the Turner Networks from Time Warner.I don't see that happening.
D* is too big of a product for them to get rid of at this point.

The commercial for DIRECTV Now where they dump a satellite receiver out the window and breaks into pieces in the sidewalk makes you think that Satellite is not what they want to go with in the future at all.
Well see .... everyone has an opinion.Taking everything I have read since the At&t takeover, including them saying OTT would be a major service going forward, the possible choice needing to be made to get the merger, and now a streaming service not connected at all to Directv I would not discount the possibility of Directv being spun off, sold etc. At&t will look at what will make them the most money going forward. It might be Directv over other choices, but after looking at replacing satellites, providing receivers, and all the ongoing costs they may conclude they want the money to invest in new technology over traditional services.
I looked at it as she tossing the old VCR/ DVD type stuff as they don't need it.The commercial for DIRECTV Now where they dump a satellite receiver out the window and breaks into pieces in the sidewalk makes you think that Satellite is not what they want to go with in the future at all.
Once again ....I can see that commercial another way. Since it’s a DIRECTVNOW commercial It’s saying to dump that Satellite and go with DiIRECTVNOW as you won’t need a Satellite.
I agree but I will say thatOnce again ....
Sat is not going anywhere any time soon.
Just because the company is ADDING, doesn't mean its getting rid of stuff.
IF your gonna pair down something your dropping U Verse TV.
The old SBC owns DirecTV..not ma bellI agree but I will say that
1. Ma Bell may infact spin off D* and I hope they do
2. I honestly believe AT&T is banking on streaming over traditional methods of tv delivery
3. DirecTV equipment is getting worse. I don't even have words for how God awful the genie 2 is. Dish is starting to look like an option for me again.

wouldn't it technically still be ma bell since SBC owns the AT&T name
Exactly! Dish has done a great job of keeping sling and it's satellite service seperate.Isn't that the same thing? Either way the commercial suggests you don't need satellite, receivers etc... Strange for a company that owns a Satellite delivery service.
Here's the difference. DISH markets Slingtv to those who probably are not going to get traditional TV. Directv is marketing to them too but also to those who DO have their Satellite service and telling them to dump it.
