Traditional Providers Losses, 1st Quarter 2025 Edition

It is that time of the month, when Live TV Providers start reporting their quarterly reports.

First up Verizon Fios, with a loss of 58,000 Video subscribers, but had gains with their Fios Broadband/5G Service, +308,000.

Fios Video service is down to 2.626M subscribers, should just give up.

Comcast and Charter's numbers up Thursday/Friday.

Where did 199,000 broadband people go?

It looks like 5G services, based on the gains of Verizon and AT&T.

Is it price making them walk away?

I would assume, Traditional Providers have not learned from history, because the trends are exactly like when Video Subscribers started to leave.

In 2011, was when Cord Cutting started, with a few thousand leaving, Cable/Satellite kept saying no big deal, means nothing.

Number of those leaving kept growing, Cable/Satellite ignored it, by 2017, when Traditional Providers still had 100 Million Households subscribing to Video Services, the number jumped to the 6 figures for those leaving.

Today, Cable/Satellite loses about 8 million a year ( about 2 million of those subscribe to YTTV type services), now is under 50 Million subscribers, in just 8 years, has lost over 50 Million, just because they ignored the problem, which they could of fixed years ago, before it became out of control.

Probably the same type of places I did when I left Spectrum. First it was a bit faster service via T-Mobile 5G Home Internet for 25% cheaper than the price of Spectrum. Then my local co-op offered gigabit fiber (1 gbps up and down speed) for $70 per month while Spectrum was offering gigabit fiber (1 gbps down and 20 mbps up speed) for $130.

I can tell AT&T has started offering 5G Home Internet in my area. Service has really slowed down recently. If the other two didn't already suck so bad, I'd consider switching.

Internet has been horrible out here. Now the cable company says they are faster. I was out for 3 1/2 weeks, and refused to credit me. Then when I called to cancel I was on the phone listening to them tell me " its the greatest mistake I will make in my life" NO JOKE. That was over 3 years ago.

Got T-Mobile 5g over 2 years ago. It was spotty at best. The downloads are in triple digits now, and it has improved greatly!

After how I was treated from cable, it would be very hard to go back!
