Interesting how # 2 Bama wins this weekend and they are in the MNC game, but #1 LSU has to win TWO game to get there.

And if they lose then another sec team has to win two to get in possibly, and yet a different one might only have to win one (or lose one for that matter )

This is the discussion I've been having with msmith in the SEC thread. It's not right that Alabama would get an advantage by NOT quailifying for the SEC championship game, and sitting out.

After losing their biggest game at home they would have beaten Mississippi State, Georgia Southern, and a bad Auburn team...then they sit out because they don't make the SEC championship game.

That's not the resume of a team that makes it into the national championship game...and finishing second should NOT give you an easier road to the championship game.

That's not how we do.

What about other teams that dont have to play a conference championship that might get in? Ok State for instance (they may be the only one left now).
Even if they win their conference, they get a pass by not having the extra stumbling block game to play, and they had a worse loss than bama. The Big Twelve looks to stay that way for the time being as well.

All these years of the Big-12 sneering at the PAC-10 and Big-11 for not having a championship game, and now the shoe is on the other foot.

I remember bringing up a similar point last year before the LSU/Arkansas game. LSU had one loss going into that game, a close one against Auburn in Auburn. I said if LSU finished with one loss and Oregon lost, shouldn't LSU be considered as a NC contender. I remember one of you saying no because they didn't win their conference and will have lost already to the team that did. I think that person was you Smith. :)

Well, IF I did, this year is different. Bama wasnt in the running last season :D

Seriously, I do not recall making the comment, although I am not saying that I didnt.
IF I did, my opinion has changed, and yes it may appear that it is because of Bama (probably couldnt convince anyone otherwise anyway), but it really isnt. It is just that the two seasons arent comparable based on what has happened, and where teams are ranked, ect.
Different animal this season.

Must find these posts. ;)

I went back and looked. lol
I didnt see me mentioning that, I may have missed them, however Derwin did make that argument when discussing it with mccoy.

Ohio State Lands Top Recruit in Ohio, Adolphus Washington!

Adolphus Washington, the 6'-6", 240 pound defensive end from Taft High School in Cincinnati announced that he will be attending The Ohio State University next season. Washington is the #1 recruit overall in the state of Ohio per Scout.com and he is the #3 DE in the country. Scout.com also has him ranked as the #1 player in the Midwest!

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

His mommy probably wants him close to home. Where else would he go in Ohio? ;)

Ya know I've seen big time recruits go and do nothing when a walkon would do 10x better... seen it many times so I don't read to much into stuff like this.

Yeah, there are exceptions, but I pretty much agree with this. I don't get into the recruiting stuff much. When I see them play well on the field, then I'll be happy we have them.

Sure it happens.
Id wager that there are more well regarded recruits that have made a big impact than there are walk ons though.

Maybe it was Derwin, I'm not sure. But somebody the usually isn't envious of the SEC said that. :)
I might have, don't remember. I did argue against UGA a few years ago in favor of LSU and Ohio St.Course it doesn't matter as this years SEC championship game will be a repeat of '05 ;)

Big East Expansion?

When will Ohio State get the final resolution from the NCAA?
