Hey guys i am moving up to my cottage and would like to take my direct tv with me.The problem is is that to get a direct tv guy to install might be difficult as my cottage is out in the boonies.Would i be able to set it up myself?I have a HD receiver.How would i go about installing it and is it hard to do?THANKS

I would venture to say Directv has an installer who would cover your area, even if it is that remote of an area! Give it a shot, can't hurt. I'm sure they have somebody!

It is tough to do if you haven't done it before. Directv will setup a move for you at no charge with a 2 year commitment IIRC.

I think you even get some free premiums to do it.

They can go almost anywhere - they specialize in rural areas without cable - given they are the only service in those markets.

There is a good chance there is someone capable of doing the installation.
However, the chnces of DTV having any control over anyone with experience is slim.

When I get calls or I call an ad phone # I always ask , "are you an HSP?" And then I explain that they can send the money any time b ut I won't work for them. The list of disgruntled is growing............They eventually scrw all who work for them.

I would suggest you not use the HD receiver at first........Where is the cottage and how do the trees look to the SW?

Do you have electricity?....The list is long.....Say more.
