What do you expect? Oh here's some money! Yea ,Most people invest money into something they get nothing out of. Put up your own money! Your business isn't it? You think I got someone to front money for my business, Yea ,its called a bank.! You can't ask for donations for something that doesn't excist! Tell all your buddies they can front all their own money first, Provide a service, and if it fails you didn't just scam 1000's of people out of their money, because your buisness failed and you all walk away without a loss. Your Kidding right? What are you 16 years old. By your communication skills over there I wouldn't doubt it. Nice Mouths:mad:

Well, I keep my discourse quite civil except when dealing with a few individuals whom I'm convinced are no longer worthy of any degree of eloquence save what a sailor might know. TheChristMan, or whatever handle he had when he got booted, is not worth civility in my opinion. You can read thousands of my posts here and in various forums and see that I keep a civil tone nearly all of the time. You have seen an exception.

The only contributors so far are people willing to put the money in on a startup knowing full well that nothing may come of it at this point. There are no members I know of asking for their money back at this point. Personally, I don't think anyone who is looking for this to be a specific benefit at this point should sign up. Only those who want to take a chance at being a founder of something intent on bringing change should contribute at this point. We've had some members sign up for subversive purposes and I see that as a shameful act. About the only benefit they have right now is a dealer/tech locator. I agree that for that sole benefit, membership is pricey. Any person considering membership looking for benefit should determine on their own if the benefits are worth it. It's a concept called caveat emptor.

Ooooh, that makes it okay then..... Then again, Scott said the organization and the person running it is a joke. Not the "endorsement" you wanted, eh ?

Not really, just think people should know. Speaking with your mouth and wallet are sometimes different conversations.

Honestly the first questions I asled about Stars was...

What can Stars do for retailers and technitions?

What do members get for their $200 yearly membership and where does that money go?

These are questions that were never answered.

I think they were fair questions.

All fair questions Scott, and ones that will never be answered. But Joel (cablesux) and Vegas satellite will continue to try and sread sh*t about anyone that asks.

Well, its a startup outfit. No budget to do anything significant yet. Its a chicken vs. egg thing. People won't join unless there's benefits in doing so, but there's no budget to organize any benefits until people join up.

Scott is a member.

Scott joined because you wouldn't answer his questions until he did, and then when he did join, you still wouldn't answer them. After joining and paying his dues, you tried to shut him up and talk crap about him.
The truth is in the stats, this site, run by Scott, is hugely succesful and has hundreds of posts per day and tons of information. The sites that support STARS, such as Transmitter News and Broadband Satellite, are all but dead with days at a time with no posts and few supporting members.

I believe that the reason you are not getting anyone in the sites asking for their money back is two fold. First, not that many sent money in the first place and second some of those who did are embarrased to admit they did and are keeping quiet.

As far as a budget to organize, I have said this before and I will say it again, all it takes to see if you can make deals and set up alliances is to pick up the phone and send some e-mails. That costs nothing but time. And Vegas, if you are so damn sure that STARS can do that, then do it and then ask for money.

Ok Truce between you two. :)

There is enough fighting between the Stars members and BOD then to have you two fighting.

I don't hold any ill will towards Scott. In fact, I've suggested that he be approached for some more integral roles in the Stars organization. I'm not a spokesman for Stars, so I'm not really in a position to answer that question except what I see which is the same as anyone else. I'm just a supporter.

The MSN board died predictably as I said it would, because AJ wasn't there to make decisions and he never fully handed the keys over to Joel or I. Neither of us had been given any authority to steer it in any particular direction. It was about as good as a free hosted site could get. I saw the demise coming and resigned moderator duties and went to Transmitter. The lack of moderation killed it. Transmitter died essentially the same way because of the abandonment of any kind of management not to mention Marty's bad handling of the Install Management program. I warned Marty his board was on course to become irrelevant, mostly because a lot of the bickering was left unchecked.

I would like to see Stars become relevant so that rates won't keep declining. It would make things easier. I worry less about it now because I'm in a comfortable spot and have all the control over the rates that affect me. My work ethics keep me making the money I want.

I am sure that your work ethics are good, but how do you think a group such as Stars can keep the rates from declining? Most of the guys making a good living in this industry are doing so because they are no longer depending on installs alone for to survive. I see most companies going to all employees and no sub contractors in the future.

I also think that within 5 years, or maybe less, we will be getting all of our tv and phone wirelessly and not satellite except in rural areas.

Stars with less then 10 active members is not going to do anything about declining pay rates. The bus to be able to stop those declines have left the station a long time ago.

For me the writing was on the walls for Stars when the entire SBE fiasco happen and the board of directors who showed up deicded it would be better to stay in the casinos and drink free booze then go to the one SBE event that was still held. They decided it was more important to drink then show their support for the industry they are supposed to represent.

There is a lot more wrong with Stars then we have talked about here. But let me say that if Richard Nixon was still alive he would like what he sees at Stars.

No one has been able to answer that question Jamey.

The only thing that we can tell you for sure about Stars is that it costs $200 to join it.

Thanks for bringing that part up Scott, I had forgot about that. The SBE was a true fiasco itself. I myself have always wondered how many people and businesses had paid up front to be at that convention, only to see it canceled at the last minute, got thier money back? I would venture to guess none. STARS, brought to you and supported by the very same people.

If i'm not mistaken vegassatellite is one the very vulgar retailers i've had some discourse with on here. He went into some huge monlogue on how customers expect work for nothing, and should pay more and always want freebies, etc... come to find out this group is taking money and providing nothing. Someone pulled a Spitzer!

I'm not a retailer, just a technician. I'm not on the board at STARS, I'm just a member. I have no pull whatsoever there.

transmitter is GONE..... evidently someone forgot to renew the domain registration

I want to laugh when I hear that, but really it is sad. Maybe if some people spnet more time trying to be honest and not trying to cover up lies and mistakes, this would not have happened. I would say that with Transmitter gone, STARS is definitely dead. Transmitter was their only supporter. Good riddance.
