This is according to the fortune magazine and Mike and Mike this morning. The Yankees want to sale the YES Network. Asking price 3.5 Billion dollars. The speculation is that the team maybe sold as well.

Why would anyone want to buy the network if they don't own the team? Isn't that what the YES Network is all about, Yankees?

The YES Network has the best rating in the country for a regional sport network. The YES Network produces more revenue than the team (Yankees). Depending on the contract, the Yankees maybe the exclusive team of YES and the same may happen with the Nets. So maybe they want to sell it but the affiliation will still be there or shall I say exclusivity.

I hear that George's health is failing him, probably has something to do with it.
Someone also mentioned earlier, after Steinbrenner owned the team all these years, Would you want to buy it after him, you would have BIG boots to fill an most that follow a huige person like him fail miserably.
