WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, family found dead

ATLANTA (AP) -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press Tuesday.

What a sad state of affair, How could you possible smother your child to death? Could he not hear the crying? Or feeel the heart beating as he laid on him? I mean when I hug my son goodnight and my head rests on his chest just hearing his heart or feeling his breath makes me teary...

Wow......I'm not sure what to think now. Chris Benoit was a monster.

Wife was bound by hands and feet and died of asphyxiation, body found in a family room. Appears she was killed Friday afternoon or early evening.

Son was in his bed and died by asphyxiation. Killed late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

A bible was placed beside both bodies.

Chris was found hanging by a cable on his weight bench. Died Saturday.

No note was found.

Wow, I think a lot of people, both fans and wrestlers wish they could take back the tears they shed for Benoit last night. Monster doesn't really even fit.

Exactly. I'm so tired of people making excuses for him, i.e. maybe 'roids made him do it, etc. There's no excuse for killing others. There's absolutely no excuse for killing your 7 year old son. Excuse me for not crying for this bum.

Its not an excuse. Roids can cause rage and unstable behavior. Those are facts. He was obviously on them. He was a dumbass.

As a medic and a wrestling fan since the age of 5 I have two things to say:

1. As far as my knowledge of steroid rage goes it does not last for two days. usually it last for minutes to hours. It does not cause you to plan out the murder and execute you family. You do things on the spur of the moment.

2. I will never mourn this monster. I will however mourn Woman and their son.

If I am wrong about the first statement then I am sorry and will stand corrected. This man planned the murder and coldly executed his family.

My guess (completely unfounded) is that there was some level of rage that led to his wife's death. Once the rage wore off, he tried to think of a way out of the situation and decided on suicide. Not wanting his son to grow up with the knowledge that dad killed mom then killed himself, he decided to kill his son first, then take his own life. Not that I have any sympathy for him, but those hours between the first death and the last must have been hell on earth. I don't think the first death was "planned", but the other two were the desperate measures of a guy who lost it.

According to wwe.com ...

WWE: Inside WWE > News > WWE Shocked At Latest Developments In Benoit Tragedy, Concerned By Sensationalistic Reporting

WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.

3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.

Time of death for the mother and son are estimated guess's not definitive, it would have only taken a man his size and strength a few moments to subdue his wife and strangle her and then turn on his son and smother him with a pillow or blanket. Roid rage is bad but couple that with career pressure ( his upcoming apearance was cancelled due to personal reasons ) and possibly marital problems that will probably come out soon then it is feasable that his rage could have lasted for longer than just a few minutes and it doesnt take roids to make that happen. Thanks to documentaries rage and adrenaline overload can cause a person to stay in a rage state for hours if its a violent situation and a trance state if its some religious transindental mumbojumbo. The best example I saw of a long term rage state was in a prison documentary where a cell block had rioted and one of the prisoners had broken baseball sized chunks of concrete wall off with his bare hands.

Toxicology will be back in a few days, I'd also suspect that they find drugs other than roids, I cant remember wich one it is but I think herroine or meth can send a person into a rage state and also blocks pain receptors. When one of these was coming into the scene in a big way some of the police interviews had documented reports of people that had been arested while on the drug breaking out car windows with their heads while handcuffed, others would break the handcuffs aswell but in the process broke their wrists and never felt it until the rage and or drugs wore off.

Im not making an excuse for him, I feel sorry for him when he realised what he had done after he came out of what ever state he was in to have committed such a horrible act, but there are conditions and substances that can cause changes in a persons state of mind.

I retract any note of sympathy for this low life, chicken-sh1t, scumbag. He should have been a man and just off'd himself.

There is atleast one new roid out that doesnt register on current tests,

Yeah Bonds didnt test positive either. My theory is these wreslters juice up when they go on vacation for awhile and then come back. They are always out with "injuries". I think most of those injuries are just periods where they train and juice and it gets them off the stage for awhile so people dont get tired of them. tesing in the WWE though, thats good for a laugh.

For all the old school wrestling fans out there, I was just watching the O'Reilly report on Fox and Bill was interviewing the VP of the A.W.A. He stated that their current womens champion, "Sherri Martel", AKA "Sensational Sherri", had died in the last couple of weeks to an overdose of some kind. As a long time wrestling fan, this was a shock to hear. Has anyone else heard this news??

anyone here collect cards?
